Lil Reese Found Sleeping In Car, Arrested On A Warrant

Chicago, Illinois' rapper Lil Reese was arrested on a warrant stemming from 2012 charges of trespassing, mob action and battery. Chicago, Illinois rapper Lil Reese was arrested over the weekend after authorities found the young artist sleeping in a vehicle. He was arrested on a warrant. According to The Chicago Tribune, Reese's warrant was issued last week. It reportedly stems from February 2012. The warrant is linked to charges of criminal trespass into a residence with people in it. The charges are also connected to "mob action and battery," according to the paper. Reese was found sleeping in a car at 4 a.m. on Sunday. He is being held on a $100,000 bond. In May 2010, Reese pleaded guilty to burglary charges and was given two years of probation, according to court documents. Earlier this month, Reese was charged with driving without insurance, driving without a driver's license and he was given a traffic violation for not signaling. In the past, Reese has also apologized for a video, which surfaced online, containing footage of him assaulting a woman. Lil Reese made a name for himself in the music industry as a guest on Chief Keef's "I Don't Like." He became a Def Jam signee in 2012. “Lil Reese brings a gritty, authentic perspective to life on the streets of Chicago,” Def Jam president Joie Manda said in a statement after the signing. “Artists like Reese are part of our lifeblood here at Def Jam, where we not only cherish our heritage as the definitive label in Hip Hop, but seek out, sign and develop the freshest talent our culture has to offer.”

Parliament/Funkadelic Bassist Cordell “Boogie” Mosson Dies At 60

The mighty Parliament/Funkadelic collective lost another member last Thursday (April 18) in bassist Cordell “Boogie” Mosson; he was 60-years-old. The Plainfield, N.J. native was considered one of the necessary anchors of the P-Funk sound, which George Clinton created and tweaked since the band's inception in the early 1970s. Mosson and Garry Shider (also known as “Diaper Man” and “Starchild”) left Plainfield for Canada in 1971 and formed a band, United Soul. Clinton caught wind of the pair, recognizing Shider from his childhood in Plainfield. After producing some tracks for United Soul, Clinton invited Shider and Mosson to join Parliament-Funkadelic. Mosson played in the band from 1972 until the early 80s, reuniting with Clinton several times since including last year in a series of Clinton-led P-Funk All-Stars shows. Ohio native Bootsy Collins played bass alongside Mosson and often stood out for his bold playing style in comparison to Boogie's steadier groove. When Collins opted to go solo, Mosson became P-Funk's main touring bassist. Born Cardell Mosson, the name Cordell stuck after pressings of P-Funk albums featured the common misspelling. The bass player entered the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame with 15 other members of the P-Funk group. Rest In Powerful Peace, Boogie.

VIBE Magazine Sold To SpinMedia, To Become Online Only

Once again, VIBE magazine has been sold. SpinMedia announced its purchase of the Urban music and fashion title, and its multiple websites, today. Reports the New York Times: SpinMedia, a group of music and pop culture Web sites that includes Spin magazine, has bought Vibe, the 21-year-old R&B and hip-hop magazine. SpinMedia announced the sale on Thursday, saying that it had bought the rights to Vibe's print magazine as well as to its related sites, Vibe.com and Vibevixen.com, from Vibe Media. The price was not disclosed. The sale reunites the two publications, which more than a decade ago were part of the same company, Vibe/Spin Ventures, before each title went through a series of sales. SpinMedia was recently known as Buzz Media. After purchasing Spin last year, it shut down the magazine, although Spin lives on as website only. Thus it seems likely that VIBE may be shuttered, again. "We are still trying to find a print model that makes economic sense in the digital age," Steve Hansen, SpinMedia's chief executive, told the Times. In 2009, the VIBE magazine folded, before it was revived again in a matter of months with current Editor-In-Chief, Jermaine Hall, at the helm. In early 2012, Vibe Holdings purchased Blackbook Media. Earlier this year, Len Burnett purchased the Uptown magazine title back from Intermedia Vibe Networks. VIBE was founded back in 1992 by Quincy Jones.

Talib Kweli & Bilal Perform "Come Here" On Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

Talib Kweli crafted a jam fans could two step to with his Miguel-assisted single "Come Here," which he performed live last evening on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Talented crooner Bilal stepped in for the Kaleidoscope Dream singer this time around, and provided his own rendition of track's soulful chorus. Backed by The Roots house band, we'd guess that a majority of the crowd had no clue that they were witnessing a miniature reunion of the legendary Soulquarian collective, which also included Erykah Badu, Common, Mos Def, and the late J. Dilla to name a few. Nevertheless, Kweli, Bilal, and Questlove did "Come Here" its proper justice, wether you're discussing the beautifully laid live instrumentation for the breezy beat, Bilal's jazzy interpretation of the chorus, or the Brooklyn MC's crisp rhymes about the woman he covets. "Come Here" will appear on Kweli's forthcoming album Prisoner of Conscious, which is available May 7. Fans can pre-order the project on iTunes here. Check out the footage from Fallon in the video below.

Bikini-Clad Beyonce Debuts New Song In H&M Commercial

Another new Beyoncé commercial means another new Beyoncé song. This time its for H&M (she is the face of the brand's summer 2013 collections), with a new commercial featuring a new song from the R&B and Pop diva called "Standing On The Sun." In the clip, which judging from the scenery was also shot in the Bahamas like the H&M summer campaign's photos, Queen B is singing and sashaying all around a beach. She goes through a bunch of different looks from the Swedish clothing retailer's summer collection. The breezy tune with a shuffling groove was written by Sia and Greg Kurstin. Meanwhile, Beyoncé is currently on her The Mrs. Carter Show world tour. During its recent stop in Paris, she performed "Grown Woman," the Timbaland-produced song that premiered in her latest Pepsi commercial. Check out the new Jonas Akerlund-directed H&M commercial below. Check out more pics of Bey modeling the line's bikinis in the gallery.

Ice Cube Provides Update On N.W.A. Movie, Current Relationship With Dr. Dre

Ice Cube gives a glimpse at what will be covered in the N.W.A. documentary, while dismissing imitators. As he prepares to release his tenth solo full-length, Everythang's Corrupt, Ice Cube spoke about his music, film and endorsement career with The L.A. Weekly. During the interview, Cube was pressed about his relationship with N.W.A. band-mate, Dr. Dre. Throughout the last 27 years, the pair have maintained a curious history. Once in "the world's most dangerous group" together, they were quick to diss each other in 1990 and 1991, during Cube's departure from the group and Ruthless Records. The Boyz N' The Hood star famously made a cameo in Dr. Dre's own solo breakout The Chronic, in the "Let Me Ride" video. In the decade that followed, the pair would collaborate on "Natural Born Killaz," an early glimpse at the later-shelved Helter Skelter collaborative album. At the turn of the millennium, the two reunited once again, with MC Ren and Snoop Dogg (n/k/a Snoop Lion), in a two-song attempted re-vamp of N.W.A. During the 2000s, again, Cube and Dre have had periods of promoting an association, before bouts apart. Pressed about his current correspondence with his Compton, California friend Dr. Dre, Cube replied, "[We talk] every now and then. We're trying to put this N.W.A. movie together. This is the real one." As for which film Cube was dismissing, it remains to be specified. There are two documentaries in production regarding the life of Eazy-E and his Ruthless Records label, where both Dre and Cube were once artists. One film is allegedly going to produced by Eazy's daughter. Cube did stress that his F. Gary Gray-directed biopic in pre-production is the only authentic account of the group. "That other [N.W.A.-related film] that you heard about was bullshit. This is the official one. We're taking it to the nooks and crannies, I think deeper than any other article or documentary on the group. These are the intimate conversations that helped forge N.W.A. To me I think its interesting to anybody who loves that era and I don't know any other movie where you can mix Gangster Rap, the FBI, L.A. riots, HIV, and fucking feuding with each other. This movie has everything from Darryl Gates and the battering ram." The full, three-page interview with Ice Cube is available at The L.A. Weekly.

Kurupt Announces Dogg Pound, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Collaborative Album

Exclusive: The legendary emcee confirms that Snoop Dogg and Soopafly will be included in the upcoming Thug Pound album along with all five members of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Hip Hop luminary, Kurupt confirmed in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX yesterday (April 23) that Tha Dogg Pound and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are planning a collaborative project. “Right now we’re fixing to be working on a Thug Pound album with all of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and all of Dogg Pound,” said the Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania-native. “…Snoop [Dogg], Daz [Dillinger], myself, Soopafly, Krayzie [Bone], Wish [Bone], Bizzy [Bone], [Flesh-N-Bone], Layzie [Bone], the whole ball of wax. These are new works.” The 1990s Beef Between Tha Dogg Pound & Bone Thugs-N-Harmony The collaboration comes nearly 20-years following the one-time beef between the two collectives. Tha Dogg Pound and Bone Thugs traded insults in the mid-1990s while immersed in the last wave of the Death Row Records and Ruthless Records feud. Krayzie Bone took aim on “Mo Murda” off of Bone’s 1995 Grammy-winning album, E. 1999/Eternal, targeting the Death Row-artists with “Follow me / Roll, stroll down East '99 / Gotta find these Row hoes.” Layzie Bone followed one song later on “Shotz To The Double Glock” with “Niggas don’t take a wrong turn or you’ll enter the hood / Wig splitters will cover your dome / In a cut where the thugs and hustlas roam / Cleveland Browns / Dogg Pound hoes it’s on.” Later in 1995 on Tha Dogg Pound’s multi-platinum debut album, Dogg Food, Kurupt replies on “Dogg Pound Gangstaz” with “Ain’t no harming me / Ain’t got no love for no Hoes-N-Harmony.” Kurupt said that not only have the two legendary groups buried past grievances, but that he and Layzie Bone have become “brothers.” Kurupt's Brotherhood With Layzie Bone “I found that a lot of times through disagreements you meet some of your best friends and family,” he told DX. “Me and Lazyie is like brothers. During the Death Row [Records] era, we were ready to tear each other apart. Now that’s one of my best friends. Layzie Bone is one of my best friends.” Tha Dogg Pound and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony recently performed during KDAY Krush Groove in Los Angeles, California on April 20. “[It was] classic to get Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Tha Dogg Pound on the same stage after all we’ve been through in our lives,” said Kurupt about the 4/20 concert that also featured Mack 10, Warren G, Too Short and Glasses Malone. “They was with [Eazy-E]. We was with Dr. Dre. We were just defending the people that gave us these opportunities.” When asked by HipHopDX if Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s go-to producer DJ U-Neek would play a role in the upcoming Thug Pound project, Kurupt replied, “I ain’t talk to [DJ] U-Neek at all, but it’s just a work in progress. I’m definitely fucking with him.”

Wu-Tang Clan Affiliate Shyheim Arrested on Gun & Drug Charges

Troubled rapper Shyheim Franklin began his career at the age of 14 as a young affiliate of the Wu-Tang Clan back in the 1990s. The former "Rugged Child" is now in his 30s and has endured some legal issues along the way. Last week, Shyheim was arrested on felony and gun charges after police raided his apartment. This marks the second time the "On and On" rapper has been arrested over possessing a firearm. According to the Staten Island Advance, a raid conducted early last Friday (April 19) morning by the Staten Island Gang Squad yielded a loaded .32 revolver hidden inside a sock. Further search of his home turned up 41 glassines of heroin, a scale and empty plastic bags indicative of a small-time drug operation. Because of Shyheim 's criminal past, the discovery of the gun and drugs will certainly hinder his defense. The former TV and film actor was arraigned last Saturday (April 20) in Stapleton Criminal Court on second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance charges according to reports from the district attorney. Shyheim is being held at Rikers on $10,000 bond and appeared in court on Tuesday although further details are still developing. In 2002, the "Shaolin" nativewas arrested on second-degree robbery and gun charges thus serving 16 months. Back in 1999, a 15-year-old boy was shot at a Stapleton nightclub that was hosting a release party for one of his albums.

Wiz Khalifa & Curren$y "Live In Concert" EP Stream

Those who missed Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y drop their Live In Concert EP on 4/20 are in luck, because the duo generously provided a free stream on YouTube. Within the first few tracks, you'll totally understand why the project saw delays due to issues with sample clearances. Sonically, Khalifa and Spitta blew the dust off your pop's old vinyl collection to craft these hits, a lot of which have a Jazz and Funk influences. Think of the musicality of someone like Bob James and pair that with the smoothness of Earth, Wind & Fire. The EP's introductory song "Cabana" sets the tone perfectly for the two MCs to kick the modern day player lines the've become known for. We have to applaud the Taylor Gang and Jet Life representers for their timing too. Live In Concert is comprised of straight spring/summer cookout tunes. You can't be mad at that. Khalifa has to bring out Curren$y a few nights on the "Under the Influence of Music" tour. We deserve to hear these tracks live. We're talking full band and everything. Hear Live In Concert for yourself below and purchase here on iTunes for support..

Raekwon Speaks on Wu-Tang Clan Reunion Album, Unreleased ODB Tracks and More

Raekwon has been on a tear lately, dropping consistent heat rocks and leaving his much younger competition in the dust. After two decades in the game, the Chef is reuniting with his Wu-Tang Clan brothers for the upcoming 20th anniversary album, A Better Tomorrow. Raekwon chopped it up with Sermon's Domain over the weekend after rocking a set at Coachella and dropped some thoughts, including not knowing the name of the upcoming Clan record. “For that particular title right there, I didn't have no knowledge of that,” says Raekwon. “I found out like a fan too, but RZA, that's the Abbot and he do what he do. I liked the title overall. Titles can change anytime anyway.” Rae knows that fans are expecting a lot out of the Wu with A Better Tomorrow, and he explains that he and his crew are going in with the best intentions. “It gotta be a hit, it gotta be a smasher,” he explained. “ The 20-year balance, it's balanced itself out. It's time for another record. That's why business is so adamant.” This fall will mark nine years since the passing of popular clansman Ol' Dirty Bastard. Rae was pressed on whether or not ODB will have some possible verses from the vaults make it on the album. "Yo, it's a lot of things in the archives, things I haven't even seen yet," answered Rae. Check out the rest of the interview below where Raekwon speaks on a possible Wu-Tang Clan tour, a new solo record and more.

Kendrick Lamar & Black Hippy Cover Respect Magazine

Black Hippy is easily one of the hottest and most talented rap crews in the game. The Top Dawg Entertainment team is Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and ScHoolBoy Q, and they are on the cover of the latest RESPECT magazine. Also featured in the issue is Nicki Minaj, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, Common and more. Last year, Ab-Soul was adamant that there would be no Black Hippy compilation album, but we just don't believe. At least, we don't want to. Kendrick should be getting used to the attention; he just graced the cover of VIBE magazine. Ab-Soul and ScHoolBoy Q recently graced the cover of XXL magazine Freshman 2013 issue. That means all the member of Black Hippy are now XXL Freshman alumni. Not a bad percentage at all. The last issue of RESPECT featured Lil Wayne on its cover. The new issue of of RESPECT, that would be Vol. 4 Issue 3, is on newsstands April 30. Check out the full cover on the next page.

Rick Ross Names New Vice President of Maybach Music Group

The Bawse Rick Ross has officially appointed another boss in his MMG empire. Kendell "Young Sav" Freeman was named the Vice President of Maybach Music Group. Many might know Young Sav from his previous spot at Def Jam, and while he'll still have a hand in Ross' Def Jam affairs, he's now MMG all day. "Feels great calling one of the hardest workers and few people I consider a close friend the new VP of MMG," Rick Ross says in a press statement. "He's one of a kind," adds Shawn "Pecas" Costner, SVP of Def Jam Records. At the start of Freeman's career, he worked at TVT Records, helping push the careers of power players like Lil' Jon, Pitbull, and Ying Yang Twins. When he reached Def Jam, Freeman held the seat as Mixshow Manager, working heavily with artists like Jay-Z, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Fabolous, Jadakiss, and recent phenomenon Trinidad Jame$. Further, he played a large role in Rick Ross' career, leading him up to this moment. "I am extremely excited to embark on this new path in my career," Young Sav states. "I appreciate Ross for noticing my grind, work ethic and giving me a major opportunity to not only be a part of this label, but also help execute his vision." He continues, "It's going to be a privilege to work with the brand and assist in taking it to the next tier. All of the artists on the roster are amazing. I'm ready to get to work."

50 Cent Says He Has No Desire To Meet His Biological Father

It's entertaining to see 50 Cent share how his mind words in tidbits, considering that just ten years ago he was most known as the rapper who survived getting shot nine times. Larry King recently sat down with the Queens native, who is now a Forbes list regular, to discuss his road to success, his future endeavors, his favorite MCs and more. "Money was always the visible financial restraint, because I grew up in without finances," recalled 50, referring to the inspiration behind his debut album's title, Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. The G-Unit frontman's upbringing was a frequently discussed topic during the sit down, most notably losing his mother at the tender age at eight years old. 50 admits that he didn't fully grasping the concept of death initially. "They would consistently say, 'She's not coming back,' and I'm like 'Yea, she is. My grandfather looked at me like, 'He really doesn't understand.'" Growing up without a mother had it's implications, as 50 became fairly acquainted with the concept of death and trouble. He credited some of that to not having a father. "I never knew my father. I never actually met him," said the "We Up" rapper. "Some people have that thing where they actually want that parent that they haven't had in their lives for a long time. Nah, I have no interests in it. The mistakes I made early on Larry, he could have been there to help me not make those mistakes." 50 has done fairly well for himself, considering his conditions. The mogul recently introduced his boxing promotions company SMS Promotion. Hear the rapper drop countless jewels in the full interview below.

Skull Gang's Hynief Explains Why He Hemmed Up JoJo Simmons

First and foremost, let's not let these shenanigans end with someone getting seriously hurt. Over the weekend, JoJo Simmons became the topic of conversation for all the wrong reasons when an image of him getting yoked up by Skull Gang member Hynief made it onto the Internets. Now, Hynief is explaining his side of story. Earlier this week, Simmons commented on the incident on video, forgoing any talk of retaliation to say, "All I been around is money all my life. I aint' been around that thug or that gun sh-t all my life, that's not what I do. What I do is I count money, and I f-ck b-tches, and I travel the world, and that's what I do. I'm not on that violent sh-t." True indeed. We'll keep the gist of this tomfoolery to a limit by giving you a quick run down of Hynief's commentary. Yes, he is down with Skull Gang but he is also "doing his own thing," which is a mixtape called No Favors, coming soon. As he stated on Instagram, Hynief gives no f-cks who JoJo's daddy or uncle and also doesn't care about getting blackballed by the music industry. Juelz didn't sanction JoJo getting run up on, Hynief says he just reacted. Hynief says he didn't punch JoJo, but he did "rough the lil ni--a up a little bit." He does not consider himself Juelz Santana's "goon." Juelz is his "brother." Apparently, Hynief called Juelz while simultaneously having JoJo in a headlock. Hynief and the dudes with him in the video (the Money Island Mafia), who look like they are about that life, give no f-cks about what the Crips were saying in JoJo's video. Also worth noting, we still don't know who JoJo was calling. Watch the full video below.

Rick Ross Is Bitter Over Getting Axed By Reebok

Even a Bawse can catch feelings. Reportedly, Rick Ross is feeling "bitter and betrayed" that Reebok dumped him because of the controversy surrounding the Miami rapper's now infamous date r@pe lyric. TMZ reports: Rick Ross is crestfallen over losing his Reebok deal because of that date rape song ... but he's also bitter because he believes the shoe company owed him a second chance. Sources close to the rapper tell TMZ ... Ross will lose between $3.5 million and $5 million ... he was getting a check each time he wore the shoes. TMZ broke the story ... Reebok dumped Ross for releasing the song U.O.E.N.O., which includes the lyric: "Put Molly [Ecstasy] all in the champagne. She ain't even know it. I took her home and I enjoy that. She ain't even know it." Ross issued a tepid apology ... suggesting the lyrics were actually misinterpreted. He also pulled the song -- which was only on a mixtape. But that wasn't enough for Reebok, which was taking heat from women's groups for keeping Ross in its stable of spokespeople. Ross is telling people he was entitled to corporate forgiveness because he did so much for the brand ... bringing classic Reeboks back in style in the hip-hop community. But Reebok was unmoved, saying, "We are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse." In other words ... too little, too late, Rick. Rozay was getting a check every time he rocked a pair of Reeboks? No wonder he feels a ways. Rick Ross' new album, Mastermind, is due out later this year.

Styles P "Float" Album Release Party in NYC [Video Footage]

Styles P celebrated the release of his new solo album Float, entirely produced by Scram Jones, at BB Kings in New York City. The Yonkers native could have easily taken the party to someone's VIP section, be he instead took the stage at the legendary venue to perform a bevy of tracks, both old and new. Luckily for us, XclusizesZone was there with a camera in hand to capture the experience. Sheek Louch joined SP The Ghost to play hype man when needed and performed a few verses during a brief LOX set. Die hard fans of the New York collective went crazy, as they rocked out to hits like "24 Hours To Live," "Good Times," and Float song "Hater Love." Upon watching the recap, one thing is certain: Hip-Hop needs a new LOX album, stat! In the mean time, lend your support by copping Float on iTunes. See the footage from the album release party below.

Beyonce Kicks off The "Ms. Carter Show" World Tour in Serbia

Beyoncé's is officially back at it. The superstar launched her The Mrs. Carter Show world tour in Belgrade, Serbia on Monday (April 15). Rocking blue nails in honor of daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, Bey played to a huge crowd at the Kombank Arena. The 31-year-old played up her usual show-girl inspired looks with a shiny sequenced off-white ensemble and her ever-present opaque tights. It's not easy being queen. The show is the first of a more than 60-date tour run, which will include headlining the Essence Music Festival and the BET experience over the summer. Bey is promoting her forthcoming fifth album and will be singing many of her old hits, but will probably throw in some new joints for the Stans. "Grown Woman," the track played during her Pepsi commercial will likely be added to the set list. Leading up to the show, the Houston native posted images from her tour rehearsal, as well as flicks from the actual concert. Drizzy said "Girls Love Beyoncé," but we have a feeling they're not the only ones.

Rick Ross Dropped By Reebok over Controversial Lyrics

Looks like the blowback from Rick Ross' controversial lyrics has come back to hit him where it really hurts, his pockets. Reebok has reportedly dropped Rozay as a spokesman. Reports TMZ: Rick Ross just learned a hard lesson about r@pe and money ... you embrace one, you lose the other ... because he was just DUMPED by Reebok. As TMZ previously reported ... Ross has taken a ton of heat for his song, U.O.E.N.O ... in which he happily sings, "Put Molly [Ecstasy] all in the champagne. She ain't even know it. I took her home and I enjoy that. She ain't even know it." Translation -- date rape. Reebok tells TMZ ... "Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so." Reebok goes on: "While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones s-xual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse." Reebok received pressure to dump Rozay particularly from Ultra Violet, a women's rights organization. Last week, Ultra Violet held a protest at the Reebok store in NYC. Just today, Rocko dropped a new version of "U.O.E.N.O." without a Rick Ross verse. About a month ago, Rozay appeared in Reebok commercial for its "Live White Hot" campaign. Ray J discusses a number of things; his relationship with his big sister Brandy (Happy Siblings Day yesterday you two), the rumor mill churning that he's dating Roc 1.0 signee Teairra Mari, and oh yes, that song about Kim Kardashian. But wait, Ray J claims he's not dissing the reality TV star and her rapper/producer beau Kanye West. Oh okay. "I've been up for three days grinding," Ray J tells Karen Civil's CivilTV about crafting the track that he's using as the starting point for his album campaign. "We didn't know it was gonna be like this kind of impact," he continues, referring to the track as a "lifestyle record" and "controversial." He brushes the track off as just a "song," but doesn't want to say any names in the interest of being "respectable." Hmmm. "The main mission of this campaign is to say no names," he adds despite a pixelated pic of Kim K on the cover. Ray J goes on to say that Brandy is a bit upset over the song, but as for Kim and Kanye? "I don't really know what's going on with the other party or with other people that feel like they're involved in the record." Come on son.

Woman Chokes Out Boyfriend For Singing Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" Song

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis' song "Thrift Shop" is a massive hit. All those plays means it has also become ridiculously annoying to many. One Colorado woman in particular became so incensed that her boyfriend was singing the song that she proceeded to choke him out. Last Saturday, 23-year-old Samantha Malson assaulted her boyfriend for drunkenly singing "Thrift Shop," reports The Smoking Gun. Malson was arrested by the Longmont Police Department for harassment and domestic violence. The police report states that Malson's boyfriend, Lars Hansen, was celebrating his 26th birthday when officers arrived at the apartment they share. It was around midnight and both members of the not so happy couple were drunk. Malson alleged that after arguing all night because her boyfried had accused her of drinking all the liquor in the crib, she left the apartment for a bit. She returned to find Hansen on the couch singing "Thrift Shop" over and over. Malson says she told Hansen to stop singing at least 25 times before she decided to put hands on him. Peep Malson's mugshot and the police report on the next page. She is currently free on bond and hopefully avoiding the radio. "Thrift Shop" recently made history becoming longest-running #1 rap song in the Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart's history after spending 12 weeks in the top spot. Was she justified in choking her boyfriend out? Would this have happened if he was singing a Miley Cyrus song? Let us know what you think in the comments.

LL Cool J Slandered Beyond Recognition Over Accidental Racist Disaster

Dear LL Cool J: "Accidental Racist" was a bad idea. But you knew that already. By now you've probably heard that Uncle L released a terrible new collaboration with country star Brad Paisley called "Accidental Racist." The name alone should've stopped the recording process, but who knows what went down to convince both parties to partake in the worst rap/country music collaboration to date. Yes, "Accidental Racist" raises a lot of questions, but more than anything it's a let down to Hip-Hop. Not that we were waiting on James Todd to revisit his "Rock the Bells" days, but when a man holds such a large chapter in the story or rap, he's held to a higher standard. For now, LL doesn't look like he's too beat up by the negative responses to the song, but he might want to have an obligatory public statement on deck... before Al Sharpton get's an ear to this story. Until that happens, take a look at some of the slanderous tweets about LL, the song, and everyone involved.

Rihanna Deals With Latest Chris Brown Breakup By Smoking Kush In The Club

We all deal with adversity in different way. For Rihanna, coping with another alleged break up with Chris Brown apparently means puffing on some kush in the club. Role model much? TMZ reports: Rihanna's gone up in smoke after calling it quits with Chris Brown ... ripping a fat blunt inside a Hollywood nightclub early Monday morning ... and TMZ has the pic. Sources inside Greystone Manor nightclub tell us, Rihanna arrived around 1am with her assistant and security guard ... and pretty much kept to herself. She left an hour or so later. As we reported, Rihanna and Chris Brown are officially broken up ... but our sources say it's nothing new for the on-again-off-again couple. We're told they'll be back together in no time. You might call it a chronic problem. In news that actually has to deal with music, Rihanna's next album will be released by Roc Nation proper. Yesterday, Jay-Z announced that Roc Nation has formed a partnership with Universal Music Group, where it will function as its own standalone label. The "Unfaithful" singer is currently on her Diamonds World Tour. Check out a photo of Rih Rih smoking that green on the next page.

Big K.R.I.T. "King Remembered In Time" Mixtape Cover Art & Release Date

UPDATE: The highly-anticipated 2013 mixtape from Big K.R.I.T., "King Remembered In Time," will be released this week. Big K.R.I.T.'s upcoming mixtape, King Remembered In Time, officially has artwork. The follow-up to last year's freebie, 4Eva N' A Day is still without an official release date, however, K.R.I.T. used Twitter to assure fans that it was "coming soon." The Meridian, Mississippi emcee/producer also directed those curious to LiveMixtapes.com, which is believed to host the fourth mixtape in an acclaimed series since 2010's KRITWuzHere, 2011's Return Of 4eva and the aforementioned 2012 effort. This will be the Cinematic Entertainment artist's first free project, following his Def Jam Records backed debut, Live From The Underground.

Jay-Z & Roc Nation Partner with Universal Music Group

When Jay-Z rapped, "Baby I'm a boss, I dunno what they do, I don't get dropped, I dropped the label," on The Blueprint 3's "On To The Next One," he wasn't kidding. Hova announced today that Roc Nation has partnered with the Universal Music Group to become a standalone label. Rihanna and Jay-Z's new albums will be released via Roc Nation/UMG. "In just five years, Roc Nation has established itself as one of the most successful brands in music with a reputation for developing some of today's most influential and popular talent, said Lucian Grainge, Chairman and CEO of UMG, in a press statement. "Not only does this agreement provide a dynamic platform for Roc Nation's exciting emerging artists, it extends our relationship with the extraordinary Rihanna and represents a homecoming for JAY Z-a brilliant artist and entrepreneur, who has been a creative cornerstone of our company." Roc Nation's previous titles, for example J. Cole's debut Cole World: The Sideline Story, were released via Columbia Records. Jay-Z is very familiar with the Universal Music Group. Roc-a-fella signed a joint venture with Def Jam, part of the Universal Music Group, in 1996. Also, the rapper/mogul was famously appointed president of the Def Jam label in 2004, signing the Roots and Rihanna during his stint. He left Def Jam at the very beginning of 2008, and founded Roc Nation the same year. "We are looking forward to working with Lucian and the incredible team he's assembled at Universal," said Jay-Z in a press statement. "We would like to applaud Lucian for collaborating with us to strike a new age deal. This agreement presents a unique opportunity for Roc Nation's artists-being able to continue to operate as an independent label with the strength, power and reach of the best major. I look forward to a long and prosperous collaboration with UMG. It feels good to be home." Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. Just last week, Jay-Z announced the creation of Roc Nations Sports, a sports management agency with its first signing being New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano. Also, the Made In America Festival will be returning in 2013 to Philadelphia on Labor Day Weekend (August 31 - Sept. 1), Peep the trailer below. Jay-Z wins, again.

Too Short Charged After Failed Getaway from L.A. Cops

Too $hort has been charged with four misdemeanors after being caught driving under the influence in Los Angeles several weeks ago. As you may recall, this was the incident when the Bay Area rapper tried to run from the cops despite having the foot speed of a well trained turtle. Reports TMZ: Too Short has been charged with FOUR misdemeanors stemming from his recent DUI arrest ... when he tried (and failed) to make a last minute escape by fleeing from cops. TMZ broke the story ... the rapper was popped on March 20 in L.A. on suspicion of DUI. He tried to cut and run from cops, but was hauled off to jail instead, where police say they found Meth in the back of the cruiser. Too Short skated on the felony drug possession charge -- since cops say they only found a small amount of dope -- and the case was tossed to the L.A. City Attorney. On Friday, the rapper was charged with FOUR misdemeanors: two counts of DUI, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of Mar1juana or an open container while driving. Short Dog's next hearing is set for April 15.

Future Talks New Future Hendrix Album,Rihanna,Auto-Tune and More

Future set out to make his mark in 2013, and so far he's showed and proved by dropping, penning, and crooning on some of the biggest records of the year. This alone made a great candidate to sit in the hot seat on this week's episode of Life+Times' series The Roundup, hosted by veteran journalist Shaheem Reid. The sit down falls in line with those in previous episodes, as Reid facilitates more of a natural dialogue than an interview with the Atlanta native. Among the topics discussed were his influences, his musical family, how he found autotune, collaborating with Rihanna and more. Little do people know that Future's cousin is Rico Wade of Organized Noize, who was a member of ATL's infamous Dungeon Family. For context, know that this is the clique that bred Outkast and The Goodie Mobb. "Through the Dungeon Family I got my name Future. I was the youngest one at the dungeon. They older guys, they like 10-15 years older than me, so they just called me the future since I was so young," said the "Karate Chop" rapper. "You just learned so much being at the Dungeon like you at school. You got Big Rube, you got dudes like Khujo, you got Cee-Lo, you know they minds so big and it just expands you," continued Future, who says The Dungeon Family didn't feel his use of autotune at first. Ironically, that vocal effect has taken him to the top, despite his naysayers. Even with his newfound star power, Future is still inspired by the game and cherishes what it's done for him. This includes him receiving a surprising call to work with Jennifer Lopez. Hear him talk about that and more in the footage below.

Goodie Mob Sets Release Date For Age Against The Machine Album

Legendary Hip-Hop group Goodie Mob have been tugging on the emotions of fans since announcing plans to release their next album, Age Against the Machine. After countless delays your hearts can quit palpitating, as we receive news that the project will indeed release June 18. The announcement was made by Cee-Lo Green's manager Larry Mestel, who spilled the beans in an interview with Fuse. "When he's not on stage [for Las Vegas show Cee Lo Is Loberace], he's in the studio down the block making music for the new Goodie Mob record and the new Cee Lo Green album coming in October," said Mestel, who described the Dungeon Family collective's latest work as "future-sounding." "It's not really what you would think Goodie Mob would be. I think people will be surprised in a positive way when they hear it." According to Mestel, Goodie Mob are also planning to put together a tour to promote the album. Dates for the shows should be forthcoming. Considering that it's been nine years since the last Goodie Mob album and 14 since founding member Cee-Lo appeared with the group on 1999's World Party, this should be quite the quicker picker-upper for those anxiously waiting for Age Against the Machine to hit shelves.

Rick Ross Apologizes for Rape Lyric, Promotes New Song

Rick Ross better tread lightly. A firestorm of criticism has been hurled Rozay's way because of lyrics that condone date r@ping a woman. The MMG rapper apologized today via Twitter, while also promoting new music shortly thereafter. There have been calls to boycott Ross' music because of the verse he drops on Rocko's single "U.N.E.N.O." "Put molly all in her champagne/ She ain't e'en know it/ I took her home and enjoyed that/ She ain't e'en know it,” raps Ross on the song. The tune dropped back in February, but people started taking note of the suspect lyrics a couple of weeks ago when a radio station in Detroit banned the Miami's rapper's songs, as well as Lil Wayne's, in protest. Rozay offered a quasi-apology last week, but it only seemed to fan the flames of the controversy. Today, the topic was even discussed on ABC's The View, a hint that the protests, such as the women's rights group UltraViolet demanding that Reebok drop Rick Ross as a spokesman, are gaining traction and mainstream recognition. Shortly thereafter, Ross took to Twitter to apologize again. "I dont condone rape.Apologies for the #lyric interpreted as rape. #BOSS," he tweeted. About an hour later he added, "Apologies to my many business partners, who would never promote violence against women. @ReebokClassics @ultraviolet." But the kicker came about 1o minutes after the last tweet. "Drop'n something new today. #Mastermind," he tweeted, referring to his forthcoming album, Mastermind, due out later this year. If Rozay sent out all those tweets himself, he needs to work on his timing. So far, one of the only rappers of note to go on the record to criticize Ross' lyric has been Talib Kweli. “I don't care if Rick Ross is 40 years old; he's a misguided 40-year-old person,” said Kweli. Check out Rozay's set of tweets in the gallery. Let us know what you think of his latest apology in the

Waka Flock Talks Gucci Mane Beef, Flockavelli 2 & More

Sorry Bricksquad fans. It looks like Waka Flocka Flame has his feet firmly planted in his stance on one time partner in rhyme Gucci Mane, with whom he recently severed all ties. He made this clear once again during a recent interview with Canada's Montreality. "Gucci [is] 1017 Bricksquad. I'm BSM, Brick Squad Monopoly. We in two paths in our life. Ain't not beef, no animosity, it's just that me and him see two different goals," said Waka Flocka calmly, disregarding their public spat. "People, they just can't put a finger on it, like 'What's the reason?' Sometimes it's none of your f**king business what's the reason. Just understand two men went they own ways, but it's no problems." Outside of Gucci Mane, the Atlanta rapper was also sure to give an update on a few of his forthcoming projects, one of which will will be Flockaveli 2. The album will drop October 5, the same day as the his influential 2010 debut. "Of course it's different, and of course it's similar," according to Waka, who says he feels like a fresh artist again. "My second album, I went so far left when I was already right. I wanted to show people that I could concur another genre of people, and I did it. Now it's time to go back to the essence of music, and how I started and what I created. It's time to claim what the f**k I started." Hear Waka talk more about this, his favorite cartoon, and more below.

50 Cent Discusses Business Ventures in "Music Is My Sport" Feature

50 Cent is on undoubtedly one of Hip-Hop's greatest rags to riches tales ever. Having ascended to one of the culture's most successful figures, despite being previously most known for getting shot nine times, the G-Unit frontman is focused on the release of his forthcoming album Street King Immortal and boxing promotions company SMS Promotions. He discussed this and more in a feature with Vevo titled "Music Is My Sport." "If you saw where I come from versus where I'm at now, you wouldn't believe how many changes I've been through," began 50. "People have expectations about people like me. The life I live, the music I make, the world I come from, they assume that you're a certain way. I've had to fight against being typecast my whole career." With over 15 years in the game and 10 years since he released Get Rich Or Die Tryin', 50 has broken down many of those barriers. He's currently looking to build the SMS Promotions brand, and admits the similarities between boxing and rap drew him in. "SMS promotions is like a dream for me. It allows me to live vicariously through the fighters that are around it. I'm not a fighter, but I get a chance to be one every now and then." See 50 talk more about business ventures as a artist, actor, author and a boxing promoter in the footage below.
