First Week Sales Projections For The-Dream's "IV Play"

The-Dream's new LP is not expected to sell many units in its first week. The-Dream's dropped quite a few tracks from his fourth album leading up to its release, and despite scoring features from both Jay-Z and Beyonce for his singles, the Radio Killa's first sales week is looking relatively low. IV Play is expected to move between 18-21k copies, around a third of the first week sales of his last proper full length Love King, (not including 1977, which was a retail version of a free mixtape he released under his birth name). Reaction to the project has been mixed, with some fans and critics pointing to the fact that while the songwriting on the effort is still strong, Terius sounds like less of a trendsetter than he often does. The projected numbers for Kid Ink's Almost EP have also come in, which sees the rapper selling between 11-13k copies of the release.

Recording Studio Sues Busta Rhymes For $70,300 Over Unpaid Bill

Busta Rhymes is being sued by Paramount Recording Studios for $70,300 because of unpaid studio time. It's a well-known fact that rappers love to be in the studio all day, every day, especially at weird times of the day. This can also be a costly venture, if you have to pay for studio time. Busta Rhymes is finding out just how costly it can get, in a new lawsuit from Paramount Recording Studios. Apparently Bussa Bus hasn't paid his bills, and owes the studio a massive amount of money. They're suing the rapper for $70,300. The lawsuit, filed by Paramount Recording Studios, states that Busta Rhymes used up nearly 375 recording hours from 2011-2012 and never paid a cent. Now the studio is suing Busta to get their money back. The legal documents laid out Busta's recording sessions, which totaled 35 sessions, and mostly when from overnight/late evening until early in the morning. No word from Busta's camp on the suit as of yet.

French Montana's "Excuse My French" Debuts at #4 On The Hip Hop Charts

It's a challenging week in sales. French Montana's "Excuse My French" ranks high, but sells low for Bad Boy/MMG. Gucci Mane's "Trap House III" makes the charts, but is the lowest seller in trilogy. For the second week in a row, there was a new #1 album. Daft Punk, while not a Hip Hop group, has ties to the culture by way of Kanye West and J Dilla sampling and praises. The French group's fourth album, Random Access Memories featured strong involvement from N*E*R*D's Pharrell Williams. The Columbia Records effort sold approximately 340,000 units. This is the group's first with the new label home, after a lengthy tenure at Virgin/EMI Records. On the Hip Hop side, French Montana's studio debut, Excuse My French scored a Top 5 debut. The album is notably a joint effort between Bad Boy Worldwide/Interscope Records, with involvement from Maybach Music Group. The Morrocan-born rapper sold over 50,000 units. Still, this is Bad Boy's lowest first-week sales since Janelle Monae's 2010 debut, The ArchAndroid, which sold approximately 21,000 copies despite critical praise. Also debuting on the charts was Gucci Mane's Trap House III. The third volume in the trilogy dating back to Gucci's 2005 Tommy Boy Records-backed debut was also his least-selling. Released independently, the legally-troubled Atlanta, Georgia Rap vet squeezed into the Top 200 selling 2,500 units. French Montana Makes No Excuses French Montana's Excuse My French was a benchmark to the independent veteran. Though selling considerably less than MMG releases from Wale or Meek Mill, as well as Bad Boy's recent releases, French did achieve Top 5 status. The LP boasts appearances from Drake, Rick Ross, and longtime affiliate Max B. Additionally, French enlisted vets Scarface and Snoop Lion on his major label debut. The Coke Boyz head also recruited production from Rico Love, Cardiak and "One Blood" producer Reefa. Low sales may be the product of some strong criticism on the album's cohesion and depth. When He's Not In The Big House, Gucci Mane Stays In The Trap House Eight years after Gucci Mane released Trap House on Big Cat/Tommy Boy Records, the Atlanta, Georgia rapper dropped the third volume. Sneaking into the charts at #175, this is the lowest-charting effort in the trilogy. Self-released, Gucci sold less than 3,000 first-week units on the digital-only effort. Guests include Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz and Rick Ross on the Brick Squad release. Gucci, who is awaiting trial for aggravated assault, worked extensively with Memphis, Tennessee producer Drumma Boy, with involvement from Southside, Lex Luger and longtime collaborator Zaytoven. The album's closer, "Birds Of A Feather," takes shots at Yo Gotti, T.I. and Young Jeezy—which Gucci displayed on his Bandcamp page—where the entire album is available for stream and purchase. Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 5/26/2013 #1. Daft Punk - Random Access Memories - 339,000 (340,000) #4. French Montana - Excuse My French - 56,000 (56,000) #5. The Great Gatsby Soundtrack - 54,000 (286,000) #17. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - The Heist - 24,000 (754,000) #23. Lil Wayne - I Am Not A Human Being II - 15,000 (453,000) #42. Russell Simmons Signs HBO Deal

The mogul's new two-year deal reunites him with the network that launched "Def Comedy Jam." Russell Simmons has signed a two-year first-look deal with HBO, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The arrangement allows Simmons to create and develop projects for HBO, the network that aired Simmons' Def Comedy Jam from 1992-97 and from 2006-08. Def Comedy Jam was instrumental in helping advance the careers of such comedians as Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker and Joe Torry. With his new HBO deal, Simmons will submit his projects exclusively to HBO. If the network is not interested in moving forward, Simmons has the opportunity to shop the project elsewhere. Simmons has been an active television producer throughout the last decade, executive producing Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry, on HBO; Run's House, starring his younger brother Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons on MTV; and the Run's House spin-off Daddy's Girls, also on MTV. He also executive produced the film Waist Deep, a 2006 thriller featuring Tyrese Gibson, Meagan Good and Game. The New Yorker built his fame and influence as a producer and manager of rap artists in the 1980s and by co-founding with Rick Rubin in 1984 the Def Jam Recordings company. During Simmons' run at Def Jam, its roster included LL Cool J, Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys, among others. Since then, Simmons has expanded his brand by launching the Phat Farm clothing line and authoring a number of books, including 2008's Do You!: 12 Laws to Access the Power in You to Achieve Happiness and Success.

Nicki Minaj Apologizes For Not Performing At Summer Jam 2012

Nicki Minaj says Peter Rosenberg did not "have enough of a resume" to make the comments he made about "Starships" at last year's Summer Jam. Nicki Minaj and HOT 97 personality Peter Rosenberg finally had the opportunity to address last year’s Summer Jam fiasco live on-air earlier today (May 28). Before the Young Money rapstress shared her take on the incident, Rosenberg informed listeners that he was hardly aware of the comments he made in regards to Minaj’s “Starships” record while hosting the festival’s smaller stage. He also revealed that he wasn’t aware of the fact that the stage was being streamed live online. Although Minaj referred to the incident as “water under the bridge,” the rapper did express her regret at letting fans down. “It’s cool. It’s water under the bridge,” she revealed. “It’s so long ago. I can’t even act like I care anymore. I don’t care. I really don’t, but I appreciate you guys having me here…This is the thing, in hindsight I should have just did the show because I’ve never allowed anyone to—no matter what I’ve gone through personally or whatever professionally, I’ve never allowed that to make me let my fans down. And even if it wasn’t a Nicki Minaj fan, just a fan in general, somebody that was there that paid to see the show. I think in hindsight I should have just came out. Because it’s my hometown especially…I apologize for not coming out and doing the show because they had nothing to do with that.” Nicki Minaj caused quite the uproar last year when her performance at Summer Jam was canceled shortly after Rosenberg referred to her “Starships” record as “bullshit.” Despite her apology to fans, the Queens emcee turned “American Idol” judge later addressed Rosenberg and spoke on what she felt was his lack of a resume. “I get it, that’s what you do. I guess, to me, I just don’t know your resume. You know what I’m saying? So, I never found you funny. I never found you entertaining. I never found you smart. I just found you annoying,” said Minaj while speaking directly to Rosenberg. “Because I grew up in New York. Well, I’ve grown up on HOT 97. I know Angie and I know Flex, Mister Cee, and all these people…To me you don’t have enough of a resume to make those comments.” Nicki Minaj’s full interview with HOT 97 can be found below.

With a roster including AMP, GQ, and Heather Victoria, among others, the label made a personnel announcement this weekend. Gucci Mane Speaks On Working Things Out With Waka Flocka, Linking Up With Chief Keef

Gucci Mane talks about signing Chief Keef to Bricksquad, being locked up with Young Scooter, and how he and Waka Flocka "always work it out". Gucci Mane has had a busy year. So far he's starred in Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers", released 5 mixtapes, been in and out of jail, and had a highly publicized beef with Waka Flocka Flame. That's not even mentioning his new album Trap House III which dropped last week, and his recent Brick Squad signee Chief Keef. Gucci spoke with XXL, detailing much of his busy year, including his time spent in the pen with Young Scooter, his recent love affair with auto-tune, studio-life, and his belief that he and Waka will work things out eventually. Check out some choice excerpts from the interview below. XXL: There was reportedly an issue with iTunes releasing Trap House III a few days later than originally planned. What happened there? Gucci Mane: They said that some of the files we had sent to them was corrupted, so it was some sort of technical error. They apologized for it. I don’t think they did it on purpose, ‘cause they get a percentage of that too. So it was unfortunate, but it’s the No. 3 album on iTunes right now. “Hell Yes” and “Point In My Life” are great. You’re really doing a lot with the Auto-Tune. I love that shit man. I could do that shit good. That’s why I keep fucking with it. The album was initially supposed to come out in July. What made you bump it up? I really wanted to drop something before Memorial Day Weekend. I always felt like Memorial Day Weekend is the beginning of the summer, so as a strategic move I felt I needed to drop something for the hood. To coincide with people going to Myrtle Beach and people going to Puerto Rico and people going to Miami. I wanted my music to be the theme music for the summer. You’ve dropped five mixtapes this year in addition to this album. Do you ever leave the studio? I don’t even go to sleep. I just record 24/7. I don’t leave the studio because you never know when you’re gonna make a big song that will change the whole situation. It’s not like, ‘Tomorrow I’m going to go to the studio from 10 to 6 and the next day I’m going to go from 6 to 12, and then I’m going to make a hit the next day.’ One day I might make no songs ‘cause I might be tired or the next day you might not have no good beats. Music comes when it comes, so I always want to be around the music. What are you working on now? I’m just working on my Brick Squad group album which will drop this summer. It’ll be me, PeeWee Longway, Young Thug, Dolph and of course Chief Keef. I even got songs with Waka on there. I’m just gonna drop a collection of all the best songs we’ve been making. I dropped a mixtape for every artist on my label, so now I feel like it’s just time to put our album together and show everybody the chemistry we got together. Speaking of Waka, what’s going on with you guys right now? There was more of a miscommunication and things got misconstrued. But we got too much of a good thing. Whatever we got to work out, we always work it out. That’s what everybody wants to see happen. So how did you and Keef link up? He a big fan of mine and I just see a lot of potential in him. I feel like all these years I’ve been in the rap game, there’s a lot of things that I wish I could have did a different way. So I just feel like if nothing else, I just want to give him some advice so that he can just enjoy his career. Just show him that trouble is so easy to get into. It’s really more of a big brother thing. There’s a business arrangement of course, but I just really like him as a person. He hard. He for real. The young people take to what’s real, what they perceive as authentic. Is it true that you and Young Scooter were cellmates in jail recently? Yep. We were locked up in the same jail. That’s true. How did you guys spend your time there? We would see each other in jail. I don’t even…I’m so glad to be out of there. I don’t even want to talk about being in jail. I just can’t wait ‘till Scooter come out of there. I understand why somebody on the outside of jail looking in on somebody would want to know about it, but to me, there’s just not much I could say about it. Scooter’s album was also supposed to come out in July. Is that going to be pushed back? Scooter says he wants to push the album back so he can promote it more. He don’t want to just throw his album out there before going out and telling the people how hard he worked on it. He’s got his own label too, and as his partner I got to respect his wishes. He’ll be home soon. It’s unfortunate, but he’ll come home soon and reap the benefits of his hard work. A lot of people were talking about your appearance in Spring Breakers. Do you plan on doing any films again anytime soon? Thank you man. I really appreciate that. I got another one coming out in June that I executive produced. It’s called The Spot. It’s got me and Keyshia Dior. It got Rocko in it. It’s got like two or three Atlanta comedians in there. It’s like a comedy. It got Scooter in there. It got OJ in there. That shit crazy.

John Wall Parties With Lil Wayne, Meek Mill & Christina Milian

The Washington Wizards have been out of the playoffs since before John Wall returned from a knee injury that kept him out the first few months. Wall did recover and show that he is an emerging star in the NBA to close out the season, and Wizards fans are generally enthusiastic about next season, so it’s natural that the young point guard has been enjoying his time off. Over the weekend as part of a Memorial Day Weekend celebration, Wall was at a pool party in Las Vegas where he partied alongside rappers Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, and the sexy Christina Milian, oh and Diddy was on hand as well. Check out pics from the even above. Guess Weezy is recovered from his "seizure-like" symptoms.

Fans Sue Omarion For Being Attacked At His Show

Fans who were attacked at an Omarion concert are suing the singer for security not being tight enough. After security failed to live up to billing at one of Omarion's recent shows at a club, two men who were accosted by "thugs" are now suing the singer. TMZ has reported that two men who attended O's show at Ole Bar & Grill in Newburgh, New York, were forced by security into the parking lot of the venue where they were victims of unprovoked attacks. The men, Brunel Jordonne and Kenson Sainvilus have filed the suit against the bar, and the MMG singer. Apparently the event was promoted as having "tight security," but when fights broke out, many patrons were forced by security into the parking lot and the altercations escalated quickly where the men sustained kicks and punches to the head. The lawsuit is for unspecified damages.

Chief Keef Speaks On Recent Arrest, Says Security Guard Who Called Cops Is Racist

Chief Keef shares his version of events from last week in Atlanta when he was arrested for smoking marijuana. Last week we reported on Chief Keef's arrest, which was the result of the rapper smoking weed in a hotel room at Le Meridien Atlanta Perimeter Hotel. Following the incident, Keef vented his frustration with the arrest on Twitter, and TMZ found the 911 call from the hotel security guard which led to Keef's arrest. The security guard had called 911 saying that "two black males" were "rolling marijuana" inside a hotel room and smoking it. Now Keef, who never seems to be afraid to speak his mind on anything, has shared his side of the story with TMZ. According to Keef, he and Tray Savage were given a "racist look" from the security guard as soon as he entered the room. "So me and my homie Tray Savage was in the hotel room chillin' when some fat ass security guard started knocking on the door talking about he needed to fix a water leak. So his ass walked in and started looking around at us and immediately gave me the racist look then started talking shit to me," the Chicago native explained. The story continued, "I told him, 'I thought you wanted to fix a water leak?' Which he obviously lied 'cause there was no water leaking. Then he immediately started talking shit to us. He told me that he was going to call the police on me so I called him a bitch." Chief Keef didn't care that the guard had called the police, as he said, "He kept saying how the police about to be on their way to lock me up so I blew smoke in his face and pulled out 30 racks and said I got the bond money -- there is more where this come from." However, Keef did not admit outright to smoking weed in his room, telling TMZ, "As for what I was smoking in the room, everyone needs to listen to my song with Uncle Ro 'All I Smoke Is Gas.'" Keef said that he felt the security guard was "racist from the moment he walked in the room. The way he looked at us was a racist look." The security guard has already denied the accusations that he's racist.

French Montana Explains Replacing Lana Del Rey & Talks First-Week Sales

French Montana says he swapped Lana Del Rey for Max B on "Excuse My French." Upon the release of his first studio album Excuse My French, French Montana isn't sweating first-week sales. "Um, honestly, I really believe it’s not what you sell, but where you end up at," said Montana in an interview with AskMen.com. "I feel like it doesn’t matter how much I sell; I know what kind of product I have. It’s going to be legendary. I know it’s going to last forever. I know once people hear it, people will be like, 'Damn. This is really it.'" French pointed out that many artists' sales have started slowly, then picked up steam over time. "Look at Akon. He sold seventeen thousand first week; he ended up selling five million copies," he said, before going back to the '90s for his next example. "Look at Shaggy. He sold ten thousand and ended up at ten million." Montana also revealed that there was at least one record he had hoped to keep on Excuse My French, but was unable to. "There was this Lana Del Rey record that I had that I really wanted to be on the album. It kind of worked out for the better, because we swapped it out for a Max B record. That meant more to me." In January 2013, French revealed that Max B was his source of inspiration.

Papoose Encouraged By DJ Premier's Support

Exclusive: Papoose also discusses his new videos and Remy Ma's impending return from prison next year. Papoose plans to be busy. During the next several months the Brooklyn rapper, who released his The Nacirema Dream album March 26, says he'll be a fixture in the studio and in front of the camera. "I’m working on my next project, but at the same time, I’m just creating visuals for every song on my album at this point," Papoose says in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX. "I wanna push this album to the ends of the globe. I don’t feel this is an album I’m just gonna drop and forget about. The response from the people is that they want visuals for records like 'Motion Picture.' So I was able to shoot a couple good videos. I shot the '6 AM' video featuring Jadakiss and Jim Jones. And then we sampled Ice T on the chorus, so the OG Ice T came out. It’s gonna be epic when that comes out. We already shot videos for the singles with Ron Browz and DJ Premier, and these are all unreleased. So I’m looking to shoot the video for 'Cure' and a couple others." Papoose signed to Jive Records in 2006 and soon announced that his first album with the imprint would be The Nacirema Dream. He was dropped from the label the following year and, after releasing a string of mixtapes, Papoose released an updated version of The Nacirema Dream album independently in March. Several notable Rap figures told Papoose that he couldn't relax now that he'd released his long-awaited debut album. "I was talking to brothers in the game I respect like DJ Premier," Papoose says. "He was telling me, 'Yo, man I love the album. I’m glad you finally got it out, and you can’t hesitate to drop the next one. It can’t take seven years…you gotta be fast on it. And I’m definitely gonna be a part of it.' He’s not the only one that’s told me that; I’m hearing it from a couple different people. Just judging from what people that support me are saying, I think I’m gonna have to move fast to get this next album out. I’m already planning, plotting and strategizing on that. Remy [Ma] will be home next year, and I’m just gonna be contributing to her movement and what she’s trying to do from behind the scenes. We’re working on a lot of things under the table, because a lot of different companies and entities are reaching out to her. We’re planning her comeback, so I feel sorry for everybody."

Lil Flip Indicted On Controlled Substance Charge

Lil Flip has been indicted on a charge of possession of a controlled substance stemming from a 2012 Texas traffic stop. Lil Flip just got off the hook for an arrest warrant stemming from a missed court date earlier this month, but it seems like the rapper's legal woes are far from over. The missed appearance was for a charge for Flip's possession of a small amount of marijuana and an AR-15 rifle within his vehicle on Christmas day of last year. The rapper was indicted on a very similar charge today, which came from a 2012 traffic stop that uncovered over 400 grams of codeine in his car. ABCLocal reports that another man was indicted for the very same charge along with Flip. Dematrius Delane Richardson was assumedly present during the stop that occurred Oct. 18 2012, on Interstate 45. Flip's court date for the firearm and marijuana charge is still set for July, to which he will plead not guilty. Stay tuned for further updates.

Chief Keef Beefs With Katy Perry On Twitter, Says He'll "Smack The Sh*t Out Of Her" [Update #2: Both Artists Apologize]

Chief Keef says he'll smack the shit out of Katy Perry after she expressed her dislike of "Hate Being Sober" on Twitter. This is pretty random. Chief Keef seems to have some beef with Katy Perry, and vice versa. The singer heard Keef's single "Hate Being Sober" on the radio this week, and she was so unimpressed by it she had to take to Twitter to express her feelings. The singer tweeted, "Just heard a new song on the radio called "I hate being sober" I now have serious doubt for the world." When Chief Keef caught wind of this shot, he did not hesitate to fire back at Ms. Perry. Today, the Chicago native tweeted, "Dat bitch Katy Perry Can Suck Skin Off Of my Dick." He continued to say he'd "smack the shit outta her," and then revealed he has a new song called "Katy Perry" coming soon. That song should be a pretty interesting listen. Check out their tweets below. Update #2: Chief Keef takes to Twitter to apologize right back. Katy Perry ✔ @katyperry Mr. Keef! I'm sorry if I offended you. Foxy Brown Says She Never Slandered Jay-Z Or Said He Took Her Virginity

Foxy Brown's career has come to the point where refuting salacious rumors about what she allegedly said about Jay-Z is her latest news. A prior gossip site's report said that the "Ill Na Na" rapper dished that Hova had partaken in gay sex and had even taken her virginity, while she was a minor. However, the rapper born Inga Marchand is saying the gossip site in question, Mediatakeout, made it all up. Says TMZ: Foxy Brown is FURIOUS over reports she trashed Jay-Z ... telling TMZ she NEVER referred to Hova as a gonorrhea-infected "tranny chaser" ... and now she's threatening to sue. Brown is referencing a report that first appeared on MediaTakeOut -- which says Foxy recently went to a baby shower and started dishing about Jay-Z's sex life to one of the guests -- saying he secretly engages in gay sex ... and that she lost her virginity to him when she was 15 and he was 27. There's more ... including allegations of a robbery, s-x tape and STDs. But Foxy says the report is complete BS, telling TMZ ... "The atrociousness of this story sickened me to my stomach. Any and everyone involved will be contacted by my attorney." Foxy says, "In all my years in the music industry, these are the most disgusting and disrespectful allegations I've ever experienced. This fictitious story ... with NO audio, visual or written interview, clearly was concocted with malicious intent." "Jay has only been wonderful to me and my family, a great friend throughout all the years I've known him and we had nothing but great success as a team." She continues, "Beyonce, his wife, has always been gracious and sweet to me ... I will NOT let any undercover hater create discord and disrespect my name and reputation." "This disrespect will NOT be tolerated." So, who do you believe? Let us know in the comments. - See more at: http://hiphopwired.com/2013/05/23/foxy-brown-says-she-never-slandered-jay-z-or-said-he-took-her-virginity/#sthash.K2PGrJkS.dpuf

Gucci Mane – Trap House 3 Album Stream

Gucci Mane finally delivered his highly anticipated Trap House 3 LP on Tuesday. Due to unknown circumstances, the album didn't release on iTunes (which Gucci says is a conspiracy). Instead, fans can purchase it via the Atlanta rapper's Bandcamp page. Guwop gave listeners a fair sampling of what to expect with tracks like "Trap House 3," "Darker," and "Use Me," to name a few. The full project features 17 songs in total and dons guest appearances by Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Chief Keef, Shawty Lo, Young Scooter, Rich Homie Quan and more. Trap House 3 actually caps off a busy month for the "Wasted" rapper. This includes getting released from prison, again, a few weeks ago and signing Keef and Young Thug to Brick Squad. Stream Trap House 3 below and let us know how you feel about it in the comments.

Soulja Boy's Bentley Impounded, Accused Of Fleeing Scene Of Accident

Soulja Boy stays in suspect situations involving his cars. The tatted up struggle rapper's latest dilemma involves his red Bentley and surveillance cameras the authorities use in L.A. to track down traffic scofflaws. SB's prized Bentley has been impounded. This appears to be the same 2012 Bentley GT he proudly showed off in 2011 when he claimed to be one of the first to own the exotic vehicle. Now, it seems that Soulja Boy, or someone pushing his whip, was involved in a traffic accident with a man on a motorcycle. However, the automobile fled the scene. That's when things start to really get interesting. Read the full story over at TMZ.

Joey Bada$$ "Summer Knights EP" Mixtape Release Date

Whether it's a Pro Era mixtape or Joey Bada$$ solo effort, "Summer Knights" is now less than a month away. Today, Pro Era's Joey Bada$$ announced his next project. The Brooklyn, New York emcee is working on an EP called Summer Knights. The title takes its name from the Chuck Strangers-produced song from Joey's 2012 mixtape, 1999. The tape would later receive Mixtape Of The Year honors from HipHopDX. The project will release on June 12. Previously, Bada$$ referred to the project as a "mixtape," which is presumably a free effort. Summer Knights EP was initially thought to be a Pro Era group project from Joey's May 10 tweet, though in today's tweet, Bada$$ referred to it as his own. This summer, Bada$$ will appear on Statik Selektah's Extended Play album.

French Montana Says Uncle Luke Can't Sue Him

French Montana says he was surprised his relationship with Uncle Luke turned sour. French Montana caught heat from 50 Cent for featuring a string of artists on his songs, but the Bad Boy artist says that he doesn't always plan his collaborations. They often happen organically, as he says was the case with his breakthrough hit "Pop That," which featured Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne. "I just played it for Drake and Ross and them 'cause they was around," French Montana says in an interview with The Breakfast Club. "We was going on tour and all of that. They jumped on it. If somebody's with me in the studio, we all getting high and drunk, I'm not not going to tell you to get in the booth and record. That's how we make music. Once that happens, I'm not going to take you off. So that's how it happens. I'm just cool with everybody." The relationship started off well before it disintegrated, according to French Montana. "I don't know what it is with him," says French Montana, who brought Uncle Luke out at the 2012 BET Awards and says he invited Uncle Luke to the "Pop That" video shoot, but that the Miami pioneer didn't show. Luke also later claimed that French Montana owed him money for using his voice on "Pop That." "I don't know," says French Montana, who adds that Luke would have sued him by now if he could have. "I guess he's trying to get a buzz or something." Montana's own buzz remains high, as he released Excuse My French, his debut studio album, yesterday (May 21).

Ludacris Claims Drake Isn't Target Of "Mad For"

Ludacris reveals he's "not talking to anyone specific" on "Mad For," says assumptions shouldn't be made about the song. Ludacris’ I Don't Give A Fuck track “Mad For” has yet to hit airwaves and already a number of assumptions are being made in regards to the song due to the artists featured on the record. Among those assumptions are claims that the song targets Young Money rapper/singer Drake. Ludacris, who previously had his own issues with Drake, is joined by Chris Brown, Meek Mill and Pusha T on “Mad For.” Chris Brown and Pusha T have both had their differences with Drake while Meek Mill was momentarily brought into last year’s debacle between Drake and Chris Brown. According to Ludacris, who was momentarily caught off guard when asked if “Mad For” was about Drake, the artists featured on the song and their issues with the Young Money artist are merely coincidence. “I didn’t even think about that…Man listen, I don’t tell other artists how to write. I just basically—they go off what they feel and they write what they wanna write on there,” Ludacris explained. “That’s just how Hip Hop is man. You write to what you feel. So, make no assumptions, just listen to the track. You can make your own assumptions, but I definitely would never make assumptions just based off who’s featured on a record…I’m not talking to anyone specific.” Ludacris later spoke on the creation of “Mad For” and shared that the features came about organically as Meek Mill, Pusha T, and others hopped on board after hearing the song in the studio. “The ‘Mad For’ record, a lot of people, a lot of different artists heard it while we was just in the studio vibing and wanted to get on it. Everybody from Chris Brown to Swizz Beatz—to Meek Mill, Pusha T, everybody,” said the rapper. Ludacris’ I Don’t Give A Fuck mixtape will be released on May 24.

Eminem Sues Facebook For Their Use Of A Song Thought To Be Produced By Dr. Dre

Eminem and Eight Mile Style LLC are suing Facebook due to what they believe was the social networking site's unlawful use of the Eminem and D12 record "Under The Influence." The popular social networking site Facebook has been hit with a lawsuit from Eminem and his publishing company Eight Mile Style LLC due to what is believed to be the unlawful use of the Detroit rapper and D12’s collaboration “Under The Influence.” According to AllHipHop.com, the lawsuit states that Facebook posted a Wieden + Kennedy ad, which promoted their new Facebook Home app and in the ad the music used is believed to be “Under The Influence.” An altered version of the ad was then released, but according to the lawsuit the edit was then taken as Facebook’s acknowledgement of the unapproved use of Eminem and D12’s song. “The alteration of the Airplane advertisement was an admission that Facebook knew it had infringed on the Eminem/D12 Composition,” states the lawsuit. Ironically, Eminem’s lawsuit states that Facebook and Wieden + Kennedy’s response to the cease and desist order, which was initially placed, called out Dr. Dre although the mega-producer did not produce or have any involvement with “Under The Influence.” “Counsel falsely and wrongfully alleged that Andre Young, professionally known as Dr. Dre, composed ‘Under the Influence,’” read the lawsuit. “Yet, a simple Internet search of the Eminem/D12 Composition would have revealed that ‘Under the Influence’ was composed by Marshall Mathers, III, and members of D12, including Denaun Porter, Von Carlisle, Ondre Moore, R. Arthur Johnson, and DeShaun Holton. Dr. Dre likewise did not produce ‘Under the Influence.’” At this time, Eminem and Eight Mile Style LLC are suing Facebook and the company that created the ad for $150,000

French Montana Signs Chief Keef Affiliate Lil Durk To Coke Boys

The Coke Boys get one from the Glory Boyz as French Montana reportedly inks a partnership with Lil Durk. French Montana released his studio debut, Excuse My French today. The Maybach Music Group/Bad Boy Worldwide rapper celebrated by enhancing his Coke Boys roster. Def Jam Records' newly-announced Executive Vice President, Shawn "Pecas" Costner tweeted that French has signed Chicago, Illinois rapper Lil Durk to his fledgling imprint, with posting a photo of the trio, joined by Wale. Durk is already affiliated with Glory Boyz Entertainment (a/k/a GBE), which is home to Chief Keef and Lil Reese. By Pecas' announcement and subsequent Durk retweets, it is believed that Montana's imprint is through Def Jam Records, where one of his mentors, Rick Ross, is signed. Lil Reese is currently also backed by Def Jam, who has faced some criticism after Reese's legal troubles involving the videotaped assault of a woman. Earlier this month, Chief Keef—who was arrested in the last 24 hours—announced his own partnership with Gucci Mane, prompting a 1017 Glo Gang moniker.

Demetrius "Big Meech" Flenory is the co-founder of BMF, a/k/a Black Mafia Family, a criminal operation that was based in Detroit and distributed cocaine throughout the United States. DJ Jazzy Jeff Says Everybody "Wants To Be A Deejay"

The award-winning artist says he's seen deejaying come "full circle." The deejay's place in the Hip Hop hierarchy may be changing. The deejay is the cornerstone of the culture, so much so that in early Rap groups the deejay got first billing, as was the case with Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, Eric B. & Rakim and DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. As Rap became Hip Hop's most popular component, though, the deejay faded from the spotlight, so much so that many rappers traveled and performed without deejays. DJ Jazzy Jeff, in particular, has been an award-winning deejay since the 1980s and watched the deejay fade from the limelight as his career with the Fresh Prince began taking off in the late 1980s. "I think the deejay didn't get the spotlight for a good bit of time," DJ Jazzy Jeff says in an interview with VladTV. Jeff says that times are changing, though. "I think the deejay has the complete spotlight now 'cause everybody in the world wants to be a deejay," he says. "It's the biggest thing in the world...You have deejays making an enormous amount of money now just because the music is so big and the deejay is so powerful. It's kind of come full circle." Today Jeff performs deejay sets around the world and was recently a judge at the Red Bull Thre3Style US Finals in Los Angeles. He also said in the interview that he doesn't like "sucker deejays," people Jeff says are "someone who pre-records what they do." Jeff says he doesn't see that often though, since he doesn't travel in those circles.

Jay-Z & Roc Nation Give Skylar Diggins A Mercedes Benz For College Graduation

After messing up a Maybach in the "Otis" video, Jay-Z and Roc Nation present Skylar Diggins with a Mercedes Benz. As Roc Nation's sports management branch builds out, the trophies are already coming in. One of Jay-Z's clients that Roc Nation represents, Notre Dame Women's Basketball guard Skylar Diggins received a grand graduation gift this past weekend. Jay-Z, Roc Nation and Dancy Auto Group gave Diggins a new Mercedes Benz upon receiving her degree from the Mendoza College of Business. Diggins, who will play professionally for the Tulsa Shock in the WNBA, thanked all three givers yesterday (May 19), courtesy of Instagram and Twitter. She included a photo of her new wheels:

Mary J. Blige Accused Of Owing The IRS $3.4 Million

Mary J. Blige may owe tax collectors over $4.5 million as new reports emerge that the Internal Revenue Service is the latest agency accusing her of default. On Method Man's "I'll Be There For You/You're All I Need To Get By," it was reportedly that the Tical single was initially created with Lauryn Hill's voice in mind for the feature. Instead, Mary J. Blige appeared, and the pair won a Grammy Award for the 1994 platinum single. It appears that Mary J. and Lauryn Hill may have more in common than that. Less than a month after Lauryn Hill was sentenced to three months in prison for failing to file and pay taxes on several years, one of peers is suffering the same accusations. Mary J. Blige reportedly in the same boat. TMZ.com reports that MJB failed to file and pay federal taxes for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. As a result, the Yonkers, New York songstress is said to owe the Internal Revue Service an estimated $3.4 million. This sum does not include the estimated $900,000 that the onetime star owes her residential state of New Jersey in back-taxes. TMZ also reports that the Geffen Records artist also owes a loan debt to the tune of $2.2 million. Blige's charity is also accused of wrongfully borrowing $250,000 without paying back the debt. Blige last released My Life II...The Journey Continues in 2011. The album featured Nas, Drake, Busta Rhymes and Rick Ross. It was a top 5 debut for Blige, her 10th LP.

B.o.B Announces Third Album Title

The Georgia rapper-musician also gets political on his new track "Through My Head," a track likely culled from his forthcoming "Underground Luxury" album. B.o.B takes a bleak look at modern American society on his new "Through My Head" single. The Georgia artist raps that they "got you working triple just to get eat some rice and chicken/Plus your credit to the limit just to drive a Honda Civic." The song is likely culled from B.o.B.'s third album, the forthcoming Underground Luxury, according to HipHopNMore. In the nearly six-minute video clip that accompanies the song, which appears to be the 2010 short film The Raven, the protagonist gets chased through a virtually desolate Los Angeles as he's hunted by machine gun-equipped robots. The clip was written and directed by Ricardo de Montreuil and incorporates thematic elements from several recent films, including 2009's Section 9. B.o.B does not appear in the video. The video concludes with the note that, "Suspect is still at large. Chris Black. A.K.A. The Raven." B.o.B's second album, Strange Clouds, was released in 2012.
