The Cool Kids' Chuck Inglish Signs Deal With Federal Prism Label

Chuck Inglish inks a deal with Dave Sitek's Federal Prism label for his imprint Sounds Like Fun. Sounds Like Fun founder Chuck Inglish recently announced that his label is partnering with David Sitek's Federal Prism (TV On The Radio), which is distributed by ADA. This formation should help Sounds Like Fun get their products to more outlets. The first official project on the label will be Inglish's debut solo album Convertibles, the follow-up to his nine-track mixtape Droptops. His forthcoming album is a reflection of his time living in Los Angeles and his evolution as an artist. Sounds Like Fun will serve as the avenue that Chuck's future creative projects, monthly parties, and more are released through. Chuck Inglish made the decision to start Sounds Like Fun when faced with a turning point, he parted ways with his old label and was embarking on a solo career. Inglish is one-half of The Cool Kids (Chuck Inglish and Sir Michael Rocks), a duo that has released eight projects and toured worldwide. "Creating Sounds Like Fun gives me a fresh start to finish what I set out to do in the beginning of my career," said Chuck Inglish in a press release statement. "Mikey and I had to deal with a lot of bullshit towards the end of our relationship with our label and we needed to clear our heads. A lot of people think we broke up or have bad blood but Mikey's my dude. I've always wanted something to call my own, to have my own factory, and Sounds Like Fun is the platform for all my ideas." The idea and naming of the brand came to him while he was tripping with a good friend and took on a deeper meaning after she passed away unexpectedly, according to a press release. The first official album that will be released under the Sounds Like Fun imprint Convertibles, will be Inglish showing his musical talents in a new way. Convertibles will be the first time Chuck plays a majority of the instruments on an album. He has produced for artists like Mac Miller, Rick Ross, and Asher Roth, among others. Mike Eizinger (Incubus, Big Boi, and Chromeo) will be the executive producer for his Convertibles project. The Detroit, Michigan-native has continued to make 2013 a productive year. In recent months he has put on parties that include artists like Grand Hustle/G.O.O.D. Music emcee/producer Travi$ Scott, got interviewed by Cypress Hill's B-Real for BREALTV, and starred on FUSE's first scripted series "The Hustle". He is currently gearing up for a Summer European Tour presented by Mindfeederz. Cash Money And Reverend Al Sharpton Agree To Book Deal

The Reverend Al Sharpton and Cash Money agree to a book deal for Sharpton's "The Rejected Stone." Many were shocked when Birdman signed singer Paris Hilton to a recording deal. Don't look now, but one may be even more surprised about the move Cash Money just made. Music isn't the only aspect of the YMCMB empire, the major record label has now agreed to a book deal with civil rights activist and television host Reverend Al Sharpton. Sharpton told The Associated Press on Thursday that the book, titled The Reject Stone, would include his thoughts on Lil Wayne and other rappers and that he was anxious to have a positive dialogue. Ironically, Wayne and Sharpton have had disagreements over the years including one over the use of the b-word and n-word in the rap lyrics. Weezy would later refer to Rev. Sharpton as Don King with a perm. The Reject Stone is due out on October 8 and will track Sharpton’s progress from “personal evolution” to New York street activist to political candidate, civil rights spokesman and television host.

Big Sean Speaks About Eminem's Involvement On "Hall Of Fame," Kanye's Baby North

Big Sean lets fans know what Eminem said about his album, talks about Kanye's baby North West and his own relationship with his current girlfriend. Big Sean's sophomore album Hall of Fame is one of 2013's most anticipated releases. Ever since the G.O.O.D. Music rapper announced that Detroit's own Eminem would be involved with the project everyone has been scrambling for details. Sean recently sat down with Sway Calloway of Shade 45 as he talked about Em's involvement and even what he said about the album's impact on the younger Detroit representer. “We talked for like three hours (in the studio) before we played any music,” said Sean regarding the studio session. "Then he was like alright, I guess I've got time to hear a couple songs... And then when it was all said and done he was like, 'I’ve never been so impressed or surprised about an album. This one is gonna be big for you.’” When asked if he had spoken to Kanye since the birth of his baby, North West, Big Sean said that he had indeed talked to the G.O.O.D. Music head and wished him well. Sean defended the name of the baby as well. "People try and talk shit about that name," he said. "I feel like if I met a pretty girl and came up to me and said, 'Hi my name is North,' I be like, 'Oh, shit, what's up?'" Big Sean also said that he might have a son in the future with his current girlfriend, Naya Rivera.

Judge Orders Meek Mill To Take Etiquette Classes

Meek Mill has been ordered to take etiquette classes as a condition of his parole. It's too bad From G's To Gents isn't still around, because Meek Mill would have been a perfect contestant. The Philly rapper attended a probation violation hearing yesterday to some surprising results. Though Meek has not broken his probation stemming from a 2008 gun and drug conviction, it did not mean he was off the hook this time around (Meek should know better than anyone-- there's levels to this shit). Common Pleas Court Judge Genece Brinkley ordered Meek to complete etiquette classes by August 4th, indicating that the classes should come before any of his shows. Apparently the request came from the fact that Mill's use of Twitter and other social media has resulted in fans threatening his probation officer. The judge ruled that the classes were to help the rapper improve his social media use, and properly explain his nature of business to the court. Mill has yet to comment on the ruling.

Hit-Boy Leaves G.O.O.D. Music

Hit-Boy reveals that he has parted ways with Kanye West. Hit-Boy was responsible for many of Kanye and G.O.O.D music's recent hits. The producer was responsible for "Niggas In Paris", "Cold", "I Wish You Would", and "Clique", but was notably absent on Yeezus. Today Hit-Boy has cleared the air on the matter, stating that he is no longer with G.O.O.D. Music. According to the producer, there are no hard feelings between him and Ye, but his focus is on his own team at the time being. “I got nothing but respect for Kanye, [but] I’m no longer a part of G.O.O.D. Music anymore.” he said. "HS87 is where my heart is, that’s what I’m reppin”. Hit-Boy has apparently inked a deal with Gee Robertson's (of Hip Hop Since 1978) new Interscope/Geffen subsidiary "Blueprint". Kid Cudi also parted ways with G.O.O.D. Music this year for similar reasons. Watch the full interview below.

Nas To Headline The New York Mets 2013 “Summer Postgame Concert Series”

Nas will be the first artist to perform as a part of this season's "Postgame Concert Series". Nas just made waves by adding a very memorable verse to J. Cole's "Let Nas Down" Remix, and now has some more big news, as he's set to headline The New York Mets 2013 “Summer Postgame Concert Series” this month! The rapper, who has been a life-long fan of the Mets, will be the first artist to appear as a part of the post-game series of shows, which he will do after July 19th's Philadelphia Phillis game. This will be Nas' first appearance at Citi Field, the home of his beloved team. The series will also feature acts such as Third Eye Blind and O.A.R. Each show will be included with the purchase of Mets tickets. You can buy tickets to the game in which Nas will appear here.

Jermaine Dupri Hit With $800,000 Tax Lien

Jermaine Dupri has been served with two tax liens for a combined amount of close to $800,000. Jermaine Dupri continues to have financial trouble. It was reported last month that the rapper could lose the rights to his label So So Def if he could not repay an oustanding loan, and he has now been served with 2 hefty tax liens. TMZ reports that the IRS has ordered Dupri to pay a combined amount of $798,692.35, stemming from 3 separate years of unpaid taxes. Still, the order pales in comparison to the $3 Million he paid to the IRS earlier in the year, so he may be okay for this one. Let's just hope he's more timely with his payments in the future.

Kanye West Releasing "Black Skinhead" As First Single & Music Video

Kanye West's "Black Skinhead" will serve as the first official single off his recent album "Yeezus". He also is readying a new music video for the single as well. Kanye West's "no strategy" approach held on strong for a while, but couldn't last forever. With no single or video thus far, Billboard has confirmed that Kanye West will release "Black Skinhead" as his first official single off Yeezus. According to Billboard, Kanye has been sending DJ's the clean/radio versions of his record "Black Skinhead". Along with that, the new radio single will coincide with an upcoming music video as well, which is already in the works according to Def Jam. We can expect this combo of both video and radio single to impact around the fourth of July holiday weekend, which as we know is only next weekend. "Black Skinhead" makes pretty good sense as the first single considering 'Ye performed it for his highly-rated SNL appearance last month, which can be seen again below (via Youtube). Do you think "Black Skinhead" is a good choice for the first single? If not, what record do you think Ye should've used?

Celtics Trade Garnett & Pierce To Nets In Blockbuster Deal

The future is now for the Brooklyn Nets. The Nets and Boston Celtics agreed Thursday to a blockbuster trade that would send future Hall of Famers Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Brooklyn. The deal can't be finalized before July 10. Trade talks heated up Thursday, but the main stumbling block late in the day was Garnett, who wanted additional time to consider whether to waive his no-trade clause. After the Nets agreed to fully guarantee the $12 million owed him for the 2014-2015 season, Garnett gave the green light for the trade to occur. Garnett also was swayed by the chance to join longtime Celtics teammate Pierce in Brooklyn, where they would play for a former rival, rookie coach Jason Kidd. The trade come as a stiff price for the Nets, who will send Kris Humphries, Gerald Wallace, Tornike Shengelia, Reggie Evans, Keith Bogans and three first-round picks scattered over the next five years to Boston. Brooklyn receives guard Jason Terry in addition to Garnett and Pierce. Terry was included to help offset Wallace's salary. He also would provide a valuable bench presence for the Nets and instant offense. A starting five of Garnett, Pierce, Deron Williams, Brook Lopez and Joe Johnson would be a formidable lineup in the Eastern Conference. It would be Kidd's job to meld the stars into a team that could immediately challenge the two-time defending champion Miami Heat. The trade ends one of the most successful eras in Celtics history and puts the franchise in full-blown rebuild mode. Not only does it allow the Celtics to clear cap space, it gives the franchise a handful of draft picks. Earlier in the week, Boston received a 2015 first-round draft pick from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for releasing Doc Rivers from his coaching contract.

Rick Ross Sued For Not Paying $90,000 Bill On Three Rolexes

Rick Ross is being sued for neglecting to pay quite a large bill for three Rolexes. Rick Ross definitely loves himself some nice gold jewelry, whether it's chains, watches, or rings, he's not often seen without some sort of accessory. However, he seems to have forgotten to pay for some of that expensive bling. Ross lapsed on a $90,000 payment for three Rolexes he bought last year. TMZ reports that Rozay is being sued for not paying the large bill. Johnny's Custom Jewelry in Texas filed the suit against the Bawse and his MMG company, claiming that Ross agreed to purchase three rollies in August of last year for the amount of $89,847.50. Johnny says Ricky Rozay bought one 18K gold watch with 30CT of diamonds ($55,000), one 18K gold watch with 7CT of diamonds ($14,000), and one two-tone watch with 5CT of diamonds ($14,000). Johnny says he delivered on the watches however the MMG rapper did not deliver on the payment. Johnny now wants to be paid for the watches, plus interest. See a copy of the Rozay's bill from Johnny's Custum Jewelry Below:

Jay-Z Addresses Illuminati & Religion in "Heaven"

Jay-Z recently released "Heaven," the latest track off his upcoming album, "Magna Carta Holy Grail." While the song samples lyrics from REM's 1991 hit "Losing My Religion," the other lyrics in the track are standing out to listeners with their reference to the Illuminati and religion. Jay raps, "Conspiracy theorists screaming Illuminati/ They can't believe this much skill is in the human body/ He's 6'2 how the (expletive) he fit in a new Bugatti/..Question religion/Question it all/ Question existence/ Until them questions are solved." The Brooklyn-bred rapper also asks for mercy while identifying himself as secular. "Have mercy on a Judas/Angel wings on a 'ghini/ I'm secular tell the hecklers/Seckle down/ Y'all religion creates division/ Like my Maybach partition and/ (expletive) is my chauffeur," he rhymes. "..That's me in the corner/That's me in the spotlight losing my religion." Check out the full lyrics in the above slide and let us know what you think:

Will.i.am Takes Legal Action Against Pharrell's "i am OTHER" [Update: Will.i.am's Lawyers Responds]

Will.i.am is taking legal action against Pharrell's "i am OTHER" brand and logo. Well, this is strange, but typical in the music industry. Will.i.am has filed a notice of opposition against Pharrell's "i am OTHER" brand for utilizing "I AM," a phrase he says he has copyrighted, and on top of this, Pharrell's logo is "confusingly similar," according to court documents. RollingStone reports that Will thinks that Pharrell using his "i am OTHER" branding on merchandise and clothing will look very similar to Will.i.am's "I AM" branding on his own goods. "The registration of the mark . . . is likely to dilute the I AM mark and the WILL.I.AM mark," the court documents read. Pharrrel and lawyers for "i am OTHER" have filed a response to Will's notice of opposition, denying his claims. "I am disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me," Pharrell said in a statement. "I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions. I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will's trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do." Will.i.am has not commented on the legal situation. [UPDATE: Will.i.am's lawyer responds] Yesterday we reported on Will.i.am taking legal action against Pharrell's "i am OTHER" brand for utilizing his copyrighted "I AM" phrase. It seems many people thought that Will was actually suing Pharrell over it, but as we reported, he only filed a notice of opposition. It appears Pharrell is trying to copyright his own "i am OTHER" phrase, and Will already has copyrighted "I AM," and so he deems "i am OTHER" too similar. As Will's lawyer, Ken Hertz, explained in a simple fashion, "This is how the process works. We own a trademark. They have applied for a trademark. We think their proposed trademark is too close to our registered and common law trademarks. They disagree." Read the entire explanation from Ken Hertz, via HHW, below. will.i.am is not suing Pharrell Williams. What will.i.am has done is what any trademark owner must do to protect and maintain a trademark. Our client is following the standard procedures of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to defend trademarks that have been registered and that he has used widely and continuously for many years. This is a run-of-the-mill trademark procedure that has been going on since late last year. will.i.am has registered several trademarks, including "I AM", which is also emphasized in, and a significant element of, his professional and trademarked name. He has been using the “I AM” mark in connection with various goods, services and philanthropic activities for more than a decade. Furthermore, our client is in the process of registering other marks that include the words “I AM” - and building a family of “I AM” marks, such as “I AM ANGEL” that operates numerous charitable and social assistance programs, including i.am.home, i.am.scholarship, and i.am.STEAM. He also uses the “I AM” mark in the names of his various business entities, such as i.am.bizzy, llc, i.am.on.tour, inc., i.am.symbolic, llc, and so on. Like many trademark owners, we use third party “watch” services to monitor new uses of, and new applications to register, similar marks. The applications are published by the Trademark Office before being approved for registration to allow existing trademark owners an opportunity to object. Prior to lodging our objection with the Trademark Office, will.i.am's trademark lawyer reached out to Pharrell's trademark lawyer in an attempt to resolve the dispute, and the parties discussed the matter for several months. Unfortunately, due to deadlines imposed by the Trademark Office, will.i.am had no choice but to lodge his objection at the time he did. This is how the process works. We own a trademark. They have applied for a trademark. We think their proposed trademark is too close to our registered and common law trademarks. They disagree. We hope to work out a sensible compromise that will allow both parties to move forward without unnecessary acrimony.

Eminem Speaks On Past Addiction To Painkillers & Near Fatal Overdose In "How To Make Money Selling Drugs"

Eminem talks about his past addiction to Vicodin in the film "How To Make Money Selling Drugs." Eminem isn't the most media-friendly or public person, however, a lot of what he wouldn't share in an interview comes out through his lyrics. Thus we've often heard Eminem rap about drugs, whether it's when he was taking them consistently, or when he was trying to sober up. For the documentary film by Matthew Cooke "How To Make Money Selling Drugs," Eminem spoke on his past drug addiction, shedding light on a near fatal overdose in 2005. A two-minute clip from the movie surfaced today, where Em speaks about his struggles with painkillers, in particular Vicodin. The Detroit native detailed his experience with Vicodin. "When I took my first Vicodin, it was like this feeling of ‘ahh.’ Like everything was not only mellow, but didn’t feel any pain," Eminem revealed. "It just kind of numbed things…I don’t know at what point exactly it started to be a problem. I just remember liking it more and more. People tried to tell me that I had a problem. I would say, ‘Get that fuckin person outta here. I can’t believe they said that shit to me.’ They knew nothing about my fuckin life. Are they out of their fuckin mind? I’m not out there shooting heroine. I’m not fucking out there putting coke up my nose. I’m not smoking crack." Eminem went on to talk about an overdose which could have led to his death, and the relapse that followed. "Had I have got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died. My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything. They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death," Eminem said. The film, "How To Make Money Selling Drugs," released this past April 25th, and also included appearances from Freeway Rick Ross, Russell Simmons and 50 Cent. Watch the clip of Eminem below,

Early first week sale projections are in for Wale's album "The Gifted". With Wale's new album, The Gifted, hitting store shelves yesterday, its no surprise that the early first week projections are already being made. According to HDD, Wale's The Gifted is expected to move about 140-160k units in its first week. If these numbers hold true, which they usually do, The Gifted will debut at number 1 on Billboard this week. Now remember if this would've dropped last week, Wale would be behind both Kanye and J. Cole. The Gifted's album sales look to be identical to Wale's last album, Ambition, which debuted at number 2 on Billboard with 164k units sold back in 2011. Do you think album sales relate to the quality/body of music?

Ludacris Sued For Allegedly Stealing Lyrics For "Sex Room"

Chicago rapper Marvo he is responsible for the original concept of Ludacris' hit with Trey Songz. Disappointing as it may be, Ludacris may not have come up with the concept of his Trey Songz assisted single, "Sex Room" all by himself. Chicago rapper Marvo is claiming that he wrote the concept back in 2009, a year before Luda launched the song. According to Marvo, he came up with the original idea with a producer named Kajun (who also produced "Sex Room"), but the beatmaker went to Ludacris with the song behind his back. While the rapper admits 'Cris changed elements of the song, many of the original lyrics remained intact, including lines such as "Welcome to my sex room" and "It's a private party." Marvo has no writing credit on the song, and is thus suing both Luda and Trey Songz for compensation. Ludacris has yet to repsond to the claims.

Photo Of 2 Chainz' Stolen Driver License & Bank Card Posted On Instagram

The potential robber in the 2 Chainz incident has posted photos of the rapper's stolen driver license and bank card on Instagram. 2 Chainz grabbed the attention of hip-hop blogosphere at the beginning of June when he was robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco. However, it wasn't attention Tity Boi wanted, and so he proceeded to deny the robbery took place on Twitter. Soon enough, footage of the robbery surfaced, and it was pretty undeniable what went down. The robber stole Chainz' wallet which didn't have any money in it. He neglected to take the chains and other jewelry that the Hear Weave Killa was wearing though (!?). Now an Instagram user, who may be one of the assailants, has posted a photo of 2 Chainz' stolen driver license and Visa card. See the image Below. Seems like "Rule #1" is indeed correct. Tity Boi (2 Chainz) ✔ @2chainz Rule #1 if a rapper gets robbed people usually post items that has been taken. Rings, chains, watch , money etc. 2 answer that question 1:42 PM - 10 Jun 2013

Chris Brown's Fender Bender Is Being Investigated By LAPD [Update: Brown Charged With Criminal Hit-And-Run, Responds On Twitter]

[UPDATE: Chris Brown reportedly says that the hit-and-run accusations are false.] As we reported earlier, Chris Brown may be in hot water when it comes to recent fender bender, if the accusations against him are true. However, Breezy is calling bullshit. The singer allegedly refused to hand over his driver's license and provided incorrect insurance information to the driver of a Mercedes he rear-ended last week. Sources close to Chris tell TMZ that he did give the woman all the correct information, and when his lawyer attempted to contact the woman not too long after the incident, she reportedly hung up on him. Apparently all subsequent calls made by Breezy's lawyer have gone unanswered. Sources say that neither Chris nor anyone from his camp have been contacted by the LAPD so far. [Update: Brown Charged With Criminal Hit-And-Run, Responds On Twitter] TMZ reports that the L.A. City Attorney has filed 2 criminal charges against Chris Brown. The singer has caught a hit-and-run charge for leaving the scene of the accident without trading proper information, as well as driving without a valid license. The maximum punishment for said crimes is 6 moths in jail for each charge. On top of the offenses, the incident will also be reported to the L.A. County D.A., as it may violate Chris' probation (stemming from the Rihanna assault case). If a judge rules that the singer has violated his probation, he could face up to 4 years in prison. Chris has taken to twitter to deny all allegations, and criticize the jounalistic spin that has been put on the situation. "It's not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous" he tweeted, and has even gone as far as to include a picture of the undamaged vehicle he is said to have hit-and-run from as his twitter avatar. View the photo, as well as Breezy's full twitter rant below. Kevin Durant Officially Signs With Jay-Z's Roc Nation Agency

ESPN confirmed Monday that Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant hired hip-hop mogul Jay-Z's firm Roc Nation to represent him. ESPN business reporter Dan Rovell tweeted: "It's Official: Jay-Z has signed Kevin Durant. Roc Nation Sports spokesman Ron Berkowitz has confirmed." With the addition of Durant, Roc Nation's client list includes New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and WNBA player Skylar Diggins. Jay-Z was recently licensed to work as an NBA agent, while Juan Perez, the president of Roc Nation Sports, was certified with the National Basketball Players Association. Jay-Z launched Roc Nation Sports April 1 with plans to create a full-service agency with players in all major sports. He also had to divest his small ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets, as owners of NBA teams can't represent players. Durant recently parted ways with agent Rob Pelinka. Durant scored 28.1 points per game last season and averaged 7.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists for the Thunder.

Kendrick Lamar Discusses His First Official Encounter With Eminem

K. Dot has spoken on his meeting with Slim Shady. In a new interview with MTV, Kendrick Lamar spoke on meeting Eminem in-studio in Detroit. Unfortunately, he claims no music was recorded. "It was unexpected, I just went to Detroit and I had a show out there and I got a call saying, 'Em wants you to come to the studio, come to the studio fast.' That was me actually just meeting and greeting,' he explained. "I bumped heads with Eminem in the past, but it was very brief, that was my first time really chopping it up with him, getting to ask all the questions I wanted to ask him.” Along with answering his questions, Em also provided feedback on Kendrick's good kid, m.A.A.d city album. "He basically told me albums haven't been done like that in a long time from a new artist, and he can appreciate how I structured the whole thing. Always stay focused on the craft and not indulge in the other crazy stuff that comes around." Black Hippy members ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock & Ab-Soul were also present at the meeting, as well Royce Da 59 and Mr. Porter. Here's hoping they'll put in work in the near future.

Kanye West Speaks On "Yeezus," His Ego & The Intentions Behind "I Am A God"

Kanye West sits down with W Magazine to discuss his new album, celebrity, and the intentions behind "I Am A God". One interview in a year is a big deal for Kanye West, two is unheard of. Ye has surprised everyone and done his second interview in a month, this time with W Magazine. The #RARE interview is naturally riddled with pull quotes, as the rapper talks about Yeezus, Paris, Quentin Tarantino, and his intentions behind "I Am A God". Read some choice excerpts from the sit down below. On his decision to record in Paris… “In Paris, you’re as far as possible from the land of pleasant smiles,” West says. “You can just trip on inspiration—there are so many people here who dedicate their lives to excellence.” On the Paris Fashion Week incident that inspired "I Am A God"… West was informed that he’d be invited to a widely anticipated runway show only on the condition that he agree not to attend any other shows. “So the next day I went to the studio with Daft Punk, and I wrote ‘I Am a God,’?” West says. “Cause it’s like, Yo! Nobody can tell me where I can and can’t go. Man, I’m the No. 1 living and breathing rock star. I am Axl Rose; I am Jim Morrison; I am Jimi Hendrix.” West is not smiling as he says this, and his voice is getting louder with each sentence. “You can’t say that you love music and then say that Kanye West can’t come to your show! To even think they could tell me where I could and couldn’t go is just ludicrous. It’s blasphemous—to rock ’n’ roll, and to music.” On the title of “I Am A God”… “I made that song because I am a god,” he says finally. He laughs for a second, then stops. “I don’t think there’s much more explanation. I’m not going to sit here and defend shit. That shit is rock ’n’ roll, man. That shit is rap music. I am a god. Now what?” On being nervous around other celebrities... “Anyone who meets me for the first time and is not slightly nervous is completely full of shit. Because when I meet people I respect, I’m nervous. When I go have lunch with Tarantino at the Chateau Marmont, I’m nervous. It’s fucking Tarantino!” On his narcissism… “On one end, I try to scale it back,” he says. “Because I don’t want to close any of the doors needed to create the best product possible. But my ego is my drug. My drug is, ‘I’m better than all you other motherfuckers. Kiss my ass!’?” On being unconcerned with failure… He’s planning his return to fashion and has set up an atelier in Milan, but right now, he says, his priority is “absorbing as much as possible” and finding the best people in every field to work with. The idea of failure seems to serve not as a deterrent but as a stimulus. Whenever he tries something new, West observes, “people say, ‘Why do you want to destroy your name?’ But I don’t care about my name as much as I care about my ideas. I could do something completely wrong, and people could hate it, but then someone else could see it and do it completely right. And it’s a push forward for civilization.” On Watch The Throne... “It was like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates talking at the same time. You know which one of us was Steve.” On Yeezus... “This music is made to spark the visionaries to stand up for themselves and help the world. Because the world is fucked.”

img New music from Future Pluto is on the way. ATLien emcee Future announced a new single called "Honest" during a backstage interview with Rap-Up TV at Power 106's annual Powerhouse concert last night. The track will be included on his upcoming Future Hendrix album, and is slated to drop in 2-3 weeks' time. "It’s like a club up-tempo record," he said. "Now’s my turn to give them something from me without the features. It’s me by myself. I don’t have a feature on this." As for the album itself, he expressed much confidence in the project. “Expect some real classic music. Expect passion and just being able to express myself in a different way on every record. I’m just coming in different, unique ways to approach the track,” he said. He also addressed his "Where You Go" single with his current partner Ciara, which was supposed to be included on Future Hendrix. Ciara apparently wanted it for her own project. Mariah Carey In The Studio With Young Jeezy & Mike WiLL Made It

img Mariah teams up with Young Jeezy and Mike WiLL for what will likely be a track for her upcoming album. Looks like "Beautiful" with Miguel won't be the only big collaboration on Mariah Carey's forthcoming album, The Art Of Letting Go. New photos suggest that the singer has something in the works with both Young Jeezy and super-producer Mike WiLL Made It. The collaboration is not all too surprising, as Mariah has always made sure to include some interesting hip hop features on her albums (remember Gucci Mane on "Obsessed"?). Despite being rooted in Trap, both Jeezy and Mike WiLL have adventured pretty far into the pop landscape, collaborating with the likes of Rihanna and Miley Cyrus respectively, so it's hard to say what the collabo will sound like at this point. The Art Of Letting Go drops July 23rd. Courtney Love Allows Jay-Z To Use Lyrics From Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

img Courtney Love reveals she's allowed Jay-Z to use Nirvana lyrics. Will they appear on the upcoming "Magna Carta Holy Grail"? Jay-Z's upcoming new album was announced basically two weeks prior to its release, which doesn't give much time for promo leading up to it, at least in the usual way of things. Hov and Ye both seem set on doing things differently this time around. We received a second commercial in support of Magna Carta Holy Grail yesterday, which showed Hov in the studio with Timbaland, as they work on the album, but still, details are scarce. Today we get a tidbit of information which may be about Magna Carta Holy Grail from the unexpected source of Courtney Love, Kurt Cobain's widow. In a new interview with the HuffingtonPost, Courtney Love (who owns the entire Nirvana catalog) divulges that she allowed Hov to repuprose some of the lead Nirvana singer's lyrics from one of their biggest records, "Smells Like Teen Spirit." "I'm letting Jay-Z use lyrics - Francis [Kurt Cobain's daughter] would freak [if she knew this.] Jay-Z's huge and we're friends," Love told the news outlet. She added, "I mean we're not besties or anything." Courtney went on to reveal that at first Jay used the lyrics without asking, but soon settled things business-wise. "They [used it] without asking, which is kind of nervy but the business side has been taken care of so it's fine," Courtney said. We'll have to wait and see if the lyrics show up in Magna Carta. Magna Carta will be available to one million Samsung Galaxy users on July 4th, and 72 hours later, it will be available to the general public for purchase.
