DJ Khaled Proposes To Nicki Minaj? [Update: Khaled Admits He Was Joking]

After much talk about the sincerity of Khaled's proposal to Nicki Minaj, it became fairly clear by the title of his new single that it was a promotional move. Nicki has since let the cat out of the bag, but we had yet to hear from Khaled himself. In an interview with T.T Torrez, the DJ finally owned up to his misdirection. “I was just having fun with it and just show love. Bring some excitement for my fans and connect with the record." he admitted. "I just wanted to tap into the emotion of the record and really spread a message. I was joking with it and having fun. We be so busy making these big hits and I wanted to come with a dope plan to present the next smash single besides just giving it out.” Khaled then expressed pride in his performance. "I think I did pretty well on the proposal, cause I wanna get into movies and stuff." he said, as well as revealing what would happen with the giant diamond from the video. "I'm just gonna add that diamond to one of my pinky rings or my necklaces, because I love diamonds too." Listen to the full interview below.

Logic Talks On Rapping About His Troubled Childhood

Logic talks about sharing personal stories in his music. DMV native Logic is steadily on the rise, having earned a spot in the XXL Freshmen list this year, and following that up with well-received mixtape Young Sinatra: Welcome To Forever and a Def Jam deal. Logic fans have become used to the emcee's candor on the mic, and his openness when spitting about his family life and troubled times growing up in Maryland. In a new interview with Hardknock TV, the rapper discussed rapping about things like his mother getting stabbed and his father abusing drugs, and why he shares these stories with his fans. Logic has the ability to story-tell on a track, and during his interview he talks about the way he writes records. "I never really said this. I never really told this to anyone, but when I write records I have an image in my head. It’s almost like a still image, but it is moving. It’s almost as if it were captured on a camera. It’s very slow motion," Logic revealed, going on to discuss his mother. "I remember where my mom got stabbed and all the things that happened. Cause she was just walking outside one night. Cause it’s fucked up where I’m from man. Where I’m from it’s a really great place, but just like anywhere in the world you could just go left and you’re randomly in like some fucked up area. You know what I mean? So, that’s what it’s like where I’m from. And I just remember that. And it was really crazy." The young rapper went on say that while it's difficult to talk about his childhood, he does it for his fans. "It's very hard to talk about witnessing your parents on narcotics, and doing all this fucked up shit, or your brother is running around on the streets doing shit they shouldn't be doing or selling things they shouldn't be selling," Logic said. "But, I talk about it 'cause I feel like it could help other people...You can't be ashamed of who you are or where you came from." Logic is currently working on his debut album, to be released via Def Jam, with executive producer No I.D. Watch part 1 of his interview below, where he talks about his love for Wu-Tang Clan and his first rap verse ever.

2 Chainz Talks On Why Jay Z Collaboration Hasn't Happened Yet

2 Chainz talks about why he has yet to collaborate with one of the greats, Jay Z. 2 Chainz has done collaborations with just about everybody in the rap game. However, one rapper who hasn't come calling for a Tity Boi feature is Jay Z. 2 Chainz is promising something big and unique with his upcoming album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, recently revealing fans will get a cookbook with the deluxe edition. In a new interview with the rapper though it sounds like the time for a Hov feature has not arrived just yet. While talking to DJ Whoo Kid for nearly twenty minutes, Tity 2 Necklace broached plenty of subjects. One in particular was the reason why he hasn't worked with Jay Z yet, and when that day will come. "I see who Hov rocks with," 2 Chainz said. "Hov rocks with people who he respect and who has glimpses of trap on their resume. I'm a recovering d-boy. I'm a recovering d-boy and he is, too...I just told him, I don't know if he caught it or not, but basically I was saying, 'Damn. I like that you and Ross record.' That's what I was saying in my head. 'I like that Mike WiLL beat.' Some of them joints, I be thinkin' I could have killed them, 'cause I like his album." Although Chainz didn't get a spot on Magna Carta Holy Grail, he was contemplating something to send Hov for B.O.A.T.S. II. However, it was Jay's Watch The Throne partner who told 2 Chainz to wait. "I do have something I thought would be cool for this album, but I got to talkin' to 'Ye. I'm like, 'Ye, what you think about putting Hov on this one?'He was like, 'Me Time,' in all caps. He just told me just to go hard on niggas," the Atlanta native said on his advice from Kanye West. 2 Chainz went on to say that maybe we'll get that Hova x Tity Boi collabo on his third album. Nonetheless, the rapper revealed he still has about a dozen features out there that have yet to be released. He remained tight-lipped about features on B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, only saying that he wanted to avoid everything that was cliché, even when it comes to features. Watch the full interview below, it's definitely worth a watch

Lil Durk Denies "Sneak Dissing" Chief Keef, Says He Could "Help" French Montana

Lil Durk speaks on his issues with Chief Keef, and his new signing with French Montana. Lil Durk was just recently released from jail, and it seems as if he's once again hard at work on his upcoming mixtape, Signed To The Streets. The rapper, who signed with French Montana's Coke Boys imprint earlier this year, has also been extremely active on Twitter since getting out, and attracted some attention after a few of his tweets were interpreted as shots at former collaborator Chief Keef. Durk cleared the air on the claims in an interview with DJ MoonDawg, as well as touching on his signing with French. The "Dis Ain't What You Want" rapper admitted that he and Keef had experienced issues, but maintained that it was handled face to face. “Sneak dissing is talking behind each other’s backs. You know what I’m saying? We had a couple of words, but that ain’t sneak dissing,” he said. “I’m doing me. That’s all I’mma say…I don’t be at Twitter looking at no Tweets man.” The Chicago emcee then explained that his Coke Boy status was able to work because the imprint is through Def Jam-- the label he already calls home. “Yeah, I got a deal with Def Jam. It don’t really mess with nothing. You know what I’m saying? Cause it’s not two major labels,” he said. Durk was confident that not only would the French co-sign give him exposure, but he could actually enhance the coke Boy brand. “The whole Coke Boy movement—it’s a big ol’ movement. East Coast, West Coast, at the same time." he explained. "It’s really just French. By me politicking and seeing his ways, I’m like ‘I could come help him. I could be the next big thing from Coke Boys.’” Read Durk and Keef's alleged sub-tweets below. Nicki Minaj Dismisses DJ Khaled's Proposal As "Not Serious"

Nicki Minaj says DJ Khaled "was not serious" about proposing and says it was made to "give the world a glimpse" of their new record, "I Wanna Be With You" off Khaled's "Suffering from Success" album. Nicki Minaj has finally addressed DJ Khaled's public proposal video, which he released last week. "[DJ] Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal," she said Monday (July 29). “I was shocked just like the rest of the world and I was cracking up laughing with the rest of the world ’cause Khaled is a master at what he does,” Minaj told Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex. Yesterday, before Nicki spoke about this, DJ Khaled released his latest song off Suffering from Success. The song, "I Wanna Be With You," features Future, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj. “It was just another way for him to kinda give the world a glimpse on the feeling of this record,” Minaj said. "Nobody in my real life took it seriously," she said. "Everybody just hit me like, ‘LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.’” Minaj confirmed that he was only "kidding" with the proposal video. “Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, ya’ll. Please let it go. He was kidding. He’s not attracted to me. He doesn’t like me. We’re brother and sister.” In his proposal video, Khaled referenced his new album, as stated in HipHopDX's initial report. The album will be titled Suffering from Success and is set to feature "I Wanna Be With You." Tech N9ne Talks Visiting Lil Wayne In Jail, Losing A Jay Z Feature, & Devil Worship

Tech N9ne Speaks on visiting Lil Wayne, nearly getting a Jay Z feature, and the assumption that he worships the devil. Tech N9ne is getting ready to drop his new album Something Else, tomorrow, so the eccentric rapper stopped by Power 105's The Breakfast Club to talk about the project as well as working with Lil Wayne, almost getting a Jay Z feature, and the rumor that he is a devil worshiper. Tech spoke on being within the top 3 touring artists at one point in his career. "Yeah it was like Kanye, Jay-Z and me," he said, detailing his touring hustle. "It's been under the radar for a long time. What a lot of artists don't realize is that if you want to be the hip hop president, you gotta get out their and politic. How do we politic through music? We go out and tour." While the rapper has been known for his status as an independent artist, he explained that he went through a lot of major label drama before choosing to go indie. "My first deal was 1993 with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis," he revealed, "'97 was Quincy Jones, Qwest and Warner, and after that it was Interscope and JCOR." "After that I went through so much bull with the majors." Tech said of his disappointment with the system. They wanted me to be a drone. They wanted me to do what everyone else is doing. But I was always to the left, I was always strange. There's always been a hint of rock n roll with my hip hop, know what I'm sizzlin?" N9ne then went on to describe the genesis of Strange Music, his own label. "I met my partner Travis O'Guin like late 99 in Kansas. He said he was a big fan of my music, and he was already a self-made millionaire from a furniture business. So we did a join-venture, and we started Strange Music. I named it Strange Music because I'm a big Doors fan, word to Jim Morrison... it took a lot to do it but we did it. Thank the lord that it worked and it's still working." On the perception that he is a devil worshiper, the rapper responded, "Everybody thought that. People fear what they don't understand, and what they can't control. If I come out hear and I've got facepaint on, to me-- I look like more like my ancestors than most of these people. If this is a cult I'm leading, the message I'm sharing is love, not hate." "The imagery is strong." Tech said of the understandable confusion around his persona. "When you look at the new album cover, there's a fiery crown on my head, but it's also a transparent heart with wings. It means evil brain, angel heart." The Strange Music emcee also let go of some details around his first time meeting Lil Wayne, after Weezy revealed in an interview from Riker's Island that he was looking to work with Tech. "'Did he just say Tech N9ne?' he ain't never met me, I ain't ever met Wayne, but he'd been a fan of me since the Wake Up Show, me doing the anthem." "I went up to Rikers to say thank you, and we talked for like 3 hours" he revealed, "and that's how I got on Tha Carter IV. The Something Else rapper shed some light on a failed collaboration with Jay-Z as well, hinting that WTT 2 is already in the works. "I was supposed to send him a beat, because I know his engineer, Mike Dean. They were working on Watch The Throne 2 in Africa or something. So I emailed Mike Dean, like 'I've got this song called “That's My Kid” with Big K.R.I.T. And Cee-Lo' and I know he just had Blu. But I ran out of time, I had to put my album together, so I didn't get to send it to him." Watch the full interview below.

While speculation arose that their was some tension between the Toronto pair, it seems all hard feelings have been put behind them, as some photos of the two in the studio surfaced last night. So many questions raised by these photos. Will Abel be on NWTS? will he be at OVO Fest? will the OVOXO title rise again? We'll have to wait and see.

Tyga is being sued by three video vixens for breach of contract surrounding the explicit version of his "Make It Nasty" video. Tyga's most explicit music video to date was released via his Twitter feed on July 28th, and depicts the hedonistic rapper partying in a mansion with a lot of women, many of them blatantly topless. Apparently, the casting ad stated that there would be no actual nudity involved in the video, and that the girls would be shot tastefully. Those who were asked to appear topless in select scenes were told their nipples would be either be edited out or covered up. They were actually told that the explicit version of the video would never be released. As such, they're suing Tyga for fraud, invasion of privacy and breach of contract in connection with the "Make It Nasty" video. [via TMZ] [Update: Vixens Looking For $10 Million A Piece] Two of the women who sparked December's suit over the explicit "Make It Nasty" video have filed new legal documents in the case. Mike revealed that we may hear Miley's rapping skills (if she has any) on the record, as he said, "I’m about to put out the first single within the next month. It’s called “23” and it features Miley, Juicy J and Wiz Khalifia. It’s a record where I had to try out something different. Miley is kind of rapping to it." The producer went on discuss the upcoming album on which the single will live, which he says he wants to be an album full of singles. "It has ten to eleven original songs that are dope as hell. I’ve already dropped three mixtapes for the streets and which each one you can see the growth. For the album I want people to just imagine an iPod playlist with all of their favorite artists. I wanted every song to be their favorite song. Every song is going to feel like a single. I’m not really trying to walk the line. I’m trying to draw the line. This album represents a new genre. I’m calling it 'Eardrummer'," Mike said. He also commented on what he and Andre 3000 were doing in the studio together recently-- and sadly, it doesn't sound like they recorded any music together, they just vibed out. Mike said, "I was just letting him hear some beats. We were just vibing. To be real with you we were really just talking. He’s like family. I fuck with Rico Wade, Future, Big Boi – the whole Dungeon Family. Andre is from Atlanta and he likes my music and of course I’m a fan of his music, but we were really just chopping it up. It was nothing too crazy."

Kid Cudi Says He Will Work With Plain Pat & Emile For A "MOTM3" Album

Kid Cudi says a "Man On The Moon III" collaboration with Plain Pat and Emile will happen. Kid Cudi has constantly been growing and re-inventing his sound as he matures as an artist. His maturation included doing a rock album, WZRD, and leaving the G.O.O.D. Music label to focus on his own imprint. Although Cudder may continue to change, for fans, nothing really compares to the classic Cudi we were introduced to back in the day with his A KiD Named CuDi mixtape. A KiD Named CuDi was a project Cudi worked on with frequent collaborators Plain Pat and Emile. Their collaborative work continued on, with Cudi's albums, Man On The Moon I & II. It looks like the artist and two producers haven't finished collaborating yet, as Kid Cudi recently revealed during a Twitter Q&A with fans that a Man On The Moon III album is "definitely happening!" FreeOnSmash has also confirmed that all three persons involved are interested in doing MOTM3, they just need to get in the lab. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later. 2 Chainz Explains His Healthy Lifestyle & How He Feels About Ludacris Still Profiting From Him

2 Chainz appears on The Breakfast Club for an in-depth interview about his cookbook & healthy lifestyle, Ludacris and leaving the DTP label, and the attempted robbery in San Francisco. 2 Chainz definitely reps his single "I'm Different," recently revealing that he has plans for a cookbook, to be released alongside his upcoming album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time. The rapper is known for Instagramming an array of healthy meals, on the daily, and so now fans will be able to make similar meals. Tity 2 Necklace is an advocate for healthy eating and living a healthy lifestyle, something he talked about in his new interview with The Breakfast Club. The rapper said that the cookbook will most likely come with the deluxe edition of his sophomore album. "The cookbook I'm tryna have that come with the deluxe packaging of my album," Tity Boi said. 2 Chainz went on to explain why a healthy lifestyle is so important for him/ "For me, bro, I do tons of shows, I'm on the road a lot, I had a whole full day of media yesterday, I shot a video, me and Fab shot the video last night, I had to get up this morning and do this, so for me, I have to eat properly, in order for me to continue running like this," he said. "I have major stomach issues, somebody that has over 8 ulcers, I have acid reflux I got about four pillows I have to sleep on...It's just things to prevent me from feeling the way I feel when I don't feel good. And every time I get sick I tell myself I do not ever wanna feel like this again." The rapper continued to reveal a number of foods he isn't able to eat, as well as alcohol, because of his dietary issues. "I wanna indulge in things like lemonade, ice cream, there's ton of things I just can't...orange juice, I can't do that anymore. I can't drink alchohol...I'm tryna find a lil wine I can rock with." He added, "Drinking is a big part of socializing in hip-hop. All these bottles come out.." Finally the Atlanta native explained his reason for doing a cookbook, which leads us back to his single "I'm Different." Chainz said, "[I'm] tryna keep it kinda conceptual and at the same time do something different besides put in a DVD of my shows, or "B Scenes of Tour Life in the Bus" I don't wanna do that." The Breakfast Club also asked 2 Chainz how he felt about Ludacris' recent comments on the show, when he said he's still eating off the former DTP rapper. 2 Chainz says he's matured a lot and isn't bothered, although at the time he was. "I mean it didn't bother me [that Ludacris said that], but I think it bothered people around me," 2 Chainz said of Luda's comment. "For the most part, people probably want me to say or do something negative, so I don't. Truth of the matter I been wanting to leave the label, when I left, I guess they knew or had some type of vision that I wasn't gunna stop there, because I was turnt up when I left and I told them, so yeah I had to pay to leave. I don't even know who else is on the roster of DTP, but the amount of money that I paid them is not gunna balance out my trajectory." Tity Boi then revealed the sum he had to hand over (the price of a verse for him nowadays), which was divided in three, he said. "It's 100,000. Let's talk about it. And two albums...It's 100k divided in three." The interview on Power 105.1 is around forty minutes. 2 Chainz continues to explain the day of the attempted robbery in San Francisco in-depth, if he bought Kanye and Kim a baby gift, B.O.A.T.S. II and much more. Watch it below.

Birdman Speaks On Why Drake Isn't On "Rich Gang" Album & Upcoming Big Tymers Project

During a recent interview with MTV, Birdman spoke on why Drake isn't featured on the new Rich Gang album. After Birdman delivered his new Rich Gang compilation album on Tuesday, many fans had questions about the absence of Drake. Well earlier today, Birdman continued his promo run and stopped by MTV Rapfix Live to chop it up with Sway about the absence of Drake from the album, reuniting with Mannie Fresh, and the upcoming Big Tymers album. During their sitdown interview, Sway quickly hit Birdman with the question that many of us were waiting to hear. Why was Chris Brown featured on the album, but not Drake? Birdman replied, "Drake was out of the country recording his album. I got songs, 'cause we doing the Big Tymers album. So I just said, we gon' hold those songs for the Big Tymers album. I think it'll be even more special." Birdman followed that up stressing that he had nothing to do with the Chris Brown and Drake beef. Stunna stressed, "I aint got nothin to do with that, I know nothing about that. Drakes blood, that's my family, my love, and we ride with Chris, but I don't know nothing about their differences". Birdman also goes on to talk about the upcoming Big Tymers album as well. He mentions that they have already began working on the album and that he's already been in talks with Mannie Fresh and they are about to hit the studio in the next couple weeks to work on new material, presumably for the album. Birdman also revealed that we should expect to hear a single off the Big Tymers' album come September or October. Watch the full interview below. [Via]

Jay Z Talks Competition With J. Cole & Drake, Verdict In Trayvon Martin Case

Jay Z talks about competition with OGs and younger cats in the rap game, as well as Trayvon Martin, and more. Jay Z has appeared in one more in-depth interview, following his press run for Magna Carta Holy Grail. This one's with Elliott Wilson, for Jay's own blog, Life + Times. The two-part, hour-long interview was released in full today. In the second part of his #FACTSONLY interview, Jay discusses the spirit of competition within rap, and how there has to be a balance of both respect and competition. As well, Hov touches on his feelings about the Trayvon Martin case and racism in today's generation. As Hova explains at the start of the second half of his interview, he's competing with the rappers that came before him, but he's also respecting their legacy. "I'm competing with their legacy, I wanna be better than Rakim, I wanna be better than Kane, that's why I'm doing this but I respect them...it's clear how much I respect those guys. You have to respect the person that opened the door and laid some groundwork for you. There's a fine line between that," Jay said. He went on to discuss his younger competitors-- such as his own Roc Nation signee, J. Cole (whose album Born Sinner just went gold) and YMCMB's Drake. "I'm sure Cole thinks his album is better than mine, and I'm cool with that, he supposed to believe that, but there's a respect thing," Jay said. "Even Drake, we have a great relationship. I know he feels like, 'I'm the next one, I'm right here,' we hear the lines, 'feelin' like the throne is for the takin, watch me take it..' you know he's feeling it, it's cool, it wasn't meant with malice or disrespect, it's just like 'I'm comin, acknowledge my existence,'" Hov finished, quoting one of Drizzy's line in "I'm On One." When asked by Elliott if he thought Drake was his biggest competition in the new school, Jay then compared Drake to Kobe, "He's definitely Kobe Bryant." The conversation soon turned to Trayvon Martin and President Obama. Hov spoke on how he felt following George Zimmerman's verdict. "I was really angry, I didn't sleep for two days...I was really angry about it. We all knew there was still a bit of racism in America but for it to be so blantant...ask yourself the question: didn't Travyon have a right to stand his ground? He was being chased, he fought back. He may have won. That doesn't mean he's a criminal. He won," Jay said (via). "If you chase me and you try to attack me and I defend myself, how can I be in the wrong? How is that right? This guy went to get some skittles and go back to watch the All Star game. He had plans, 'I'm gonna get this Arizona, get these Skittles, I'm gonna go watch the game.' He probably had his whole position and everything. He had no intentions of robbing anyone's home. It's a thing where it's like a reminder of, 'We still got a long way to go. It's beautiful because this generation, they don't see color in that way." Watch both parts of the interview below.

Ace Hood's "Trials & Tribulations" First Week Sales Numbers Revealed

The numbers for the first week of Ace Hood's "Trials & Tribulations" are in. Ace Hood may have scored a gigantic lead single with "Bugatti," but it seems like going up against heavyweights like Jay Z and J. Cole may have hindered his sales potential. According to Hits Daily Double, the Trials & Tribulations rapper will place a respectable number 4 on the charts, but will only move about 32,288 copies. Hov will remain on top this week, selling another 127,768 copies of Magna Carta Holy Grail, and Cole saw his latest release reach Gold status this week as well. We'll have to wait and see if Ace will continue to sell consistently and keep up with the big guns in the coming weeks.

King Louie Accused Of Setting Up A Videotaped Assault Of A Woman For Publicity

Chicago rapper, King Louie, is being accused of setting up a videotaped assault of a woman to promote himself as a rapper. Coming fresh off the release of his brand new mixtape, Jeep Music, King Louie is making headlines tonight for allegedly hiring a woman to attack another female associate on film in order to "promote himself as a rapper". Jazmine Berry is claiming that Epic Records recording artist, King Louie, invited her to his home in early June for breakfast. Berry says that another woman, Josephine Conley, then arrived to Louie's house after she had already been there. Berry's lawsuit states that Louie and Conley falsely accused her of stealing a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses. For that, Conley then began punching Berry in the head, pulling her hair, grabbing her by the neck, and throwing her to the floor. She alleges the entire incident was filmed for the purpose of gaining attention for Louie online. Berry claims two other people were on site of her assault, but stood in the background laughing at her while neither tried stopping the fight. You can hear Berry in the video asking "You just gonna let her do this to me,”, while a male witness responds "I don’t know what ya’ll got going on. She said you took something from her.” Berry also claims that her and Louie have been longtime friends, and that she has never met Conley prior to that day. Berry is suing both Louie and Conley in Cook County Court. She seeking more than $1 million in damages for battery, conspiracy, emotional distress, and defamation. Epic Records was not named in the suit.
