Sean Kingston Settles Lawsuit With Alleged Gang Rape Victim

Sean Kingston has settled a lawsuit with a woman who accused him of gang rape in 2010, though the singer maintains his innocence. TMZ reports that Sean Kingston has settled a lawsuit with a 22-year-old woman, who accused him and his former body guards of gang rape in 2010. It should be noted that Kingston's settlement is not an admission of guilt-- he has maintained his innocence, and is very confident that were the case to go to trial, he would have easily proved this in court. However, the singer has a new album and tour to worry about, and simply doesn't have the time for legal matters. A source close to Kingston has also dismissed the claims. "Her story wasn't consistent. She told various stories throughout her interviews with police. Her friend's story wasn't consistent with hers. The medical report had no indications of force." Sean has confirmed that he and the woman did have sex in 2010, but maintains that the affair was consensual. Reports indicate that the settlement was a fraction of what the alleged victim was originally asking for. The lawsuit should be dismissed in the near future.

Z-Ro Dead. . . My own personal and professional moniker will be the Mo City Don. . . I keep coming across a problem in my career, no matter how much success I get. . . Kendrick Lamar Weighs In On "Control" Responses

Kendrick Lamar reveals his favorite "Control" response, as well as clearing the air on his "King Of New York" line. Kendrick Lamar has finally taken some time to answer a lot of questions that have been raised since he released his monumental "Control" verse. K.Dot spoke to Peter Rosenberg at HOT97 about the responses to the track, competition in the rap game, his King of New York Line" and more. Read a few excerpts from the interview below. On his favorite responses: I liked the Los verse, Joe Budden did his thing, Joell-- a lot of people with different approaches. Joey had the facts in his verse, a few things that he felt. Papoose had the comical joint. Los was flippin' his words, putting that spunk on it. Los killed it, out of everybody. On the verse affecting his relationship with other rappers: I didn’t hear from nobody. But I wasn’t worried about it affecting relationships. At the end of the day, if you listen to the line these are the cats that I feel like inspire the game. They inspire to be the best like I how I inspire to be the best. They’re competitive, they respect the culture I don’t feel like there should be some time of ill-feel toward it. On The "King Of New York" line: It made me go back in and feel like I gotta probably dumb down my lyrics nowadays for the people that take it way out of context the way that they did. The irony behind it all is … the ones to really understood context of the line is the kings of New York that I met with this week. The cats that I’ve sat down with this past week. It’s not about what coast, it’s not about what side we on. It’s about being as great as Biggie and Pac, the two cats that I reference from jump. I feel like I’m a student. I’m a student of the work they did. Eventually when I put down my 20 years in the game I can eventually plant my foot and have that same type my legacy. But for people who are trying to make it something that it’s not, I would never try to take the history from what Pac and BIG laid. And, to keep it 100 with you, Snoop will always be number 1. On Jay Z and Diddy's reaction: That’s classified between me and him, but it was all love and respect. Same way with Diddy and a few other cats. At the end of the day, I feel as though you got certain cats that really want to take it to the next level and make it a rivalry thing, that’s old school homey. I’m a Black man out here trying to uplift the culture. My first sold out show was in New York, so I always looked at that place as a place that respected me and my lyrics. I think the ones that took it out of context where the people that want to grab an opportunity off of the hype of the record rather than actually tuning in and listening and knowing how hungry I am. A lot of people think it’s about talent, that’s where they get it wrong. I’m saying I’m the most hungriest in this. On restoring competition in rap: I respect the legends in the game, people that done it before me, people that lost their lives over this. So because of what they laid down I’m a try go harder. Breathe it. Live it. That’s the point of the whole verse, what I was trying to convey through that verse. All that ignorance behind it, you can kill all that noise. It’ll never be like that again where two coasts have a rivalry. Not on my behalf, not while I’m doing it. And I think the OGs would want that anyways, that competitive nature back and no bloodshed over it. I’m way too wise and way too polished to get caught up in the hype and media. But what I’m scared of is cats that’s not that polished and they get caught up in what they Twitter responses is saying and homies around them is saying, and people trying to gas em up, and then want to take it to the next level. Nah, that’s not G, that’s not gangsta. On Papoose’s verse: I thought it was comical if anything. It had me laughing but not only that I respect the game. I understand when opportunity presents itself , you gotta make a way for yourself. That was the perfect opportunity to go out there and make a response and get that buzz. And he got that buzz going for himself. At the end of the day I wanna see everybody eat. Ain’t no ill will. It’s all love. It had me cracking up. Listen to the full interview below.

Lil Scrappy Arrested After Gas Station Brawl

Lil Scrappy was arrested after a scuffle inside a gas station in Atlanta earlier this week. Lil Scrappy is certainly living up to his name. The rapper was arrested after getting into a scuffle inside a gas station in Atlanta earlier this week. Things apparently got heated when a man insulted Scrappy's girlfriend, and soon after punches were thrown. There happened to be an off-duty cop at the scene who witnessed the altercation, and was able to break things up pretty quickly. Cops arrived later, and arrested Scrappy, as well as the other man, Kenny Rogers (not THAT Kenny Rogers). The two were then brought into custody for disorderly conduct. Scrappy was reportedly quite cooperative, and was released shortly after. The rapper still insists that Rogers initiated the brawl. "He was calling my girlfriend names and then put his hands on me ... so I had to lay them paws on him," he said to TMZ. According to Scrappy's lawyer, there is also video evidence of the rapper acting in self-defense. This is not the first time the rapper has run into trouble with the law in recent months.

First Week Sales Projections For Big Sean's "Hall Of Fame" & Juicy J's "Stay Trippy"

Early first week sales projections for Big Sean's "Hall Of Fame", and Juicy J's "Stay Trippy" albums are in. Big Sean and Juicy J both released two big albums this past Tuesday, but it looks like both album sales maybe short of expectations. According to early projections from HDD, Big Sean's new Hall Of Fame album is projected to sell only about 75-85k units this first week. Whereas, Juicy J's new album, Stay Trippy, is looking at moving about 60-65k units. The G.O.O.D. Music rapper struggled with getting a single to blow up, and even though "Beware" is doing pretty well, the campaign was affected in their first week album sales. Sean's numbers look to be similar to his debut album Finally Famous, which moved 87k units. We'll keep you updated when the officials numbers come in next week. Make sure to cop the albums. Side thought: Do you think first week album sales are important?

Featured Artist [Detroits OWN] D. Focis "Born Loser" NEW Video!!

New Video: D.Focis - Born Loser

Born Loser is the new single by Detroit Artist/Producer D.Focis. We are invited on a trip down memory lane, as D.Focis reveals some of his life growing up in Detroit, MI. Attending a dozen public schools led to constant issues with fighting and being bullied as the "new kid", which created deep feelings of inadequacy, but this is no sad song. This is a celebration of all those who were born without a path to success, and respond by creating one of their own. Produced by D.Focis, the song is musically rich with emotion, and even manages to tastefully add a Country/Western feel towards the end…..very artfully done. This video is also D.Focis' debut as a director.

J. Cole Talks About How Sha Money XL Tried To Get 50 Cent To Sign Him

J. Cole shares a story about how before he was signed, Sha Money XL wanted 50 Cent to sign him. J. Cole collaborated with 50 Cent this past year for "New York Times," a bonus track on Born Sinner. This was our first taste of a 50 x Cole collaboration, but what would it have been like if Cole and Fif were frequent collaborators? In a new interview with VIBE, the rapper talks about how Sha Money XL had tried to get 50 to sign J. Cole before Cole went with Roc Nation. Cole tells an interesting story about how Sha had played his shit for 50 Cent, before he was signed, when his name had just started circulating the music industry. The story goes that Fif wasn't sure about Cole, saying, "I don’t know, man. Is he one of these skinny jeans niggas?" Read excerpts from the interview below. Sha Money XL told me once that he brought you to 50 Cent before you signed with Roc Nation. What do you remember about first meeting him? I didn’t meet 50 when Sha was trying to introduce me, but there’s a crazy story. I was unsigned and my name was starting to get around the industry. I took a meeting with Paul Rosenberg and a meeting with Mark Pitts, but my stuff hadn’t got to Jay Z yet. Nobody was making a move. “Lights Please” and “Lost Ones” were making their rounds, but it wasn’t no real action yet. I ended up in Connecticut at 50’s crib and he wasn’t home that night but people was still in his crib. Were Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks around? Yayo, Sha Money and a couple other people were there, but Banks wasn’t that night. Yayo was going nuts, like, “Son!” When I see Tony Yayo today we still talk about that. It was a crazy night. After that, Sha Money was trying to fuck with me heavy. He was like “Son, look, I’m playing 50 your shit.” Supposedly the story is that he played 50 my shit and 50 wasn’t sure. Like, “I don’t know, man. Is he one of these skinny jeans niggas?” He couldn’t see it, but it was a good time in my life. It was brand new, fresh. Being in that crib was amazing. Fast forward five years and you feature 50 on “New York Times,” off of Truly Yours 3. How did that track come about? I made that song and didn’t write the hook, I just did the melody. On the original reference I’m humming the melody, but all I did was steal a 50 Cent melody—some shit I would hear 50 singing. I had that song for a year before the album came out. I was like, “Damn, I’d love to get 50 or Nas on this.” Nas was my original plan but he didn’t get the verse done in time. So we had this other kid from Queens named Bas. Wow, reuniting 50 and Nas could’ve been huge. Exactly. For hip-hop, period. But really for New York. I wanted that to be a real New York record. This down South nigga coming and putting on for the city because I have a connection. So 50 came to the studio in L.A. to lay the verse and he heard the melody and he was like, “I could tell you was thinking about me when you were doing that melody.” He wrote that shit in five minutes, maybe. It was crazy to see that melody that was in my head come to life with the actual person who I wanted to do it. He gave us three hours worth of game that night, just talking. Were both Nas and 50 aware that they’d both be on the same record? Yeah. I told 50 that night he laid the hook, “I just want to let you know I want to put Nas on this.” He was like, “Yeah that’s cool.” Then I hit Nas and told him I got this joint with 50 on it, and he was like “Cool.” Nobody had a problem with it. I think that they saw the moment was going to be big. I wish he could’ve gotten that verse done, but my nigga Bas is on that, so it’s all good.

Justin Timberlake Speaks On VMA's, Miley Cyrus & Drake Collaboration

Coming hot off his VMA performance, Justin Timberlake sat down with Angie Martinez and spoke about the VMA's, Miley Cyrus, and his upcoming collaborations with Drake, Nas, and Jay Z. The star of this year's VMA's made a visit to Angie Martinez over at Hot 97 on Tuesday. During his rare sit down, Justin Timberlake talked about his friendship with BeyoncĂ© and Jay Z, collaborations with Drake, Nas, and Jay Z, and his plans after The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2 drops on September 30. He also weighed in on Miley Cyrus’ infamous VMA performance. Speaking on those several topics, See what JT had to say about each. On hanging out with Jay Z and BeyoncĂ© after their New Yorkshow: “I did get both of them standing on a couch. Me and my wife get along with them so well. For all the stuff that surrounds us, they’re so normal and just nice people. They’re just good people, my kinda people.” On winning the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the VMAs: “To even be mentioned in the shadow of the GOAT, to even be mentioned in the shadow of MJ… That’s when you’re like, ‘Whoa!’ It’s humbling. It feels sacred in a way.” On Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance: “It’s the VMAs. It’s not the Grammys. We’re talking about Madonna in a wedding dresshumping the stage, we’re talking about Britney doing a striptease. This cycle is not uncommon. … I’m saying she’s young, take it easy on her. I think ['We Can't Stop'] is jammin’ when I hear it on the radio. I like all the bears. To me, it’s almost like if something like that doesn’t happen at the VMAs, then I feel like it was boring.” On collaborating with Nas, Jay Z, and Timbaland on “Sinatra at the Sands”: “Originally I think it was something that Tim and I… Tim obviously did the beat and I wrote a hook on it where I sort of sang in the style of Frank Sinatra. I didn’t know that Jay was gonna be on it. I haven’t heard it done, I’ve only heard what Tim and I did together. It’s a mid. It gives you that feeling though of this easygoing… I don’t want to say too much about it ’cause I haven’t heard the end of it.” On collaborating with Drake on “Cabaret”: “Drake and I have been trying to get at each other about doing a record. I think we’ll probably end up doing more as time goes by as well… He killed it.” On his next album: “I don’t know that I would take as big a break this time because it really comes down to, do you have something to say with music… And if you don’t, wait until you have something to say. “I have a lot of ideas about even beyond this double albumwhere a sound could go from the songs we’ve just done, and funny enough, had conversations with Tim and Pharrell about it ’cause I played Pharrell a lot of this stuff before Tim and I were finished with it as well. I’m in a musical space for sure.”

Timbaland Unveils New Michael Jackson Project

Timbaland unveils a new Michael Jackson project. Timbaland has worked with some of the biggest names ever including Jay Z, Justin Timberlake, Aaliyah, Missy, and the list could go on and on. However for his next act, the super producer is going to work with Michael Jackson on a new project. Yeah, that's right. Drake's Former Stylist Sues Him For $76,000 Over Unpaid Bills

A former stylist for Drake claims that the rapper still owes him a large sum of money for both services and purchases. Drake has expensive taste. The OVO rapper reportedly pays his stylists close to $40,000 a month, on top of flying them around the world with him, and supplying them with the racks to purchase his designer brands for him. A former stylist for Drizzy was living pretty well of this salary, until Drake allegedly stopped paying him. Michael Raphael claims that Drake hired him in August 2012 for a monthly rate of $39,583. He was responsible for styling, graphic design for OVO, photography, and brand direction among other things. Raphael says that the price did not include his insane bills on clothing purchases, or travel expenses. The stylist was allegedly paid handsomely for a few months, until he was suddenly cut off in December of 2012. Raphael says that he not only missed his payment that month, but also racked up a $40,000 shopping bill, which he was never reimbursed for. Raphael is now suing Drake for the full amount of $76,490. Drake has yet to respond.

2 Chainz Tour Bus Reportedly Involved In Drug Arrest [Update: 2 Chainz Arrested]

What is thought to be 2 Chainz tour bus was pulled over outside Oklahoma City, and the bus driver was arrested on suspicion of drug use. 2 Chainz is once more having trouble on the road, after being robbed in San Francisco where he was scheduled to perform in the Bay Area. This time, however, it appears Tity 2 Necklace may not have been on site during the incident, which involved his tour bus. What is believed to be the rapper's tour bus was stopped outside Oklahoma City, Oklahoma this morning. As Oklahoma's NewsOn6.Com reports, 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne performed at Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday night. Just past midnight on Thursday, the cops pulled over a tour bus for a broken taillight on Interstate 40 and Meridian. The officer arrested the bus driver, whom he suspected of drug use. However, the seven people on board the tour bus refused to unlock it, so the cops had the tour bus towed with the people still on board to a police training facility nearby until they obtained a warrant to search the bus. The people on board where eventually taken off the bus and detained while the vehicle was searched. They could be charged with a misdemeanor, interfering with official process. It's uncertain at this time if 2 Chainz was actually on board. We'll update you once we know. [UPDATE: 2 Chainz Was On Board The Bus And He Was Arrested] So it turns out Tity Boi was indeed on his tour bus when the cops pulled it over outside of Oklahoma City early this morning. The police had pulled over the vehicle and attempted to enter when they noticed signs of drug use. However, the bus driver locked the police out, insisting on a warrant, which the police soon obtained. Following that, 2 Chainz along with 11 other people were arrested for "interfering with the police process." It's unclear if they face additional charges, and whether or not drugs were actually found on the bus. TMZ has obtained video footage of the police on location during the arrest. See it below.

Kendrick Lamar's "good kid, m.A.A.d city" Officially Goes Platinum

Kendrick Lamar has officially moved a million copies of his major label debut. You may remember when Kendrick was preemptively awarded a platinum plaque for good kid, m.A.A.d city back in June. At that point one million copies of the album had been shipped, but it was not until this week that the record's sales finally hit 7 figures. It's likely no coincidence that the album hit platinum a week after K.Dot's monstrous "Control" verse made such an impact, earning him a 9k increase in sales, with his current tally at 1,003,000. Congrats to Kendrick on the accomplishment!

J. Cole Explains How Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" Single Helps His Own Single "Crooked Smile"

J. Cole says Macklemore's "Thrift Shop" gives him hope that "Crooked Smile" can become a hit on Pop radio, and says they are re-shooting the music video for "Crooked Smile." J. Cole's Born Sinner album is doing consistently well on the charts, and he's looking to have the same success with his single "Crooked Smile." While it may not be a traditional single in terms of content for radio and pop standards, the rapper is nonetheless hoping it will get a lot of airplay at Pop radio stations. while talking to MissInfo, the rapper reveals that he thinks he has Macklemore to thank for letting "Crooked Smile" potentially become a pop radio hit. The rapper explained how Macklemore opened up doors for him, as he says White men often have to do for Black men when it comes to radio stations. "["Crooked Smile"] deserves to be the number one record in the country. I think Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” gave me hope for a song like this. I think he kinda… as weird as it is, and it’s always happens like this, the White boys got to open the door for Black people at White radio. It happened with Elvis, Eminem, Justin Timberlake, Robin Thicke, and now hopefully Macklemore with a song like “Thrift Shop” can allow “Crooked Smile” to get its proper shine at Pop Radio," Cole said. He went on, "Honestly, you can’t name me many songs better than… I don’t mean to sound crazy, but better than “Power Trip” as singles. They should have gave it a chance at Pop radio. All these Pop PDs weren’t giving rap a chance at all." As Cole says, "Thrift Shop" is relate-able for fans all across the world, something he thinks "Crooked Smile" is also capable of, but "we needed Macklemore" first, he says. The "Born Sinner" also reveals that he have to re-shoot the music video for "Crooked Smile." It will now feature Chilli and have a story to it. You can expect it to get released within the coming weeks. "We have to re-shoot it," J. Cole said. "It came out nice but it just didn’t come out exactly how I wanted. It’s such an important song so I want the visual to match. If this was my first video than I would have panicked. We had to re-shoot “Work Out,” too." One hot topic which Cole did not address, and appears to have no interest in so doing, is Kendrick Lamar's "Control" verse.

Unpaid Intern Sues Bad Boy Because Her Tasks Included Getting Coffee, Answering Phone Calls

An unpaid intern at Bad Boy Entertainment sues the company over the work she was forced to do. Although it tends to be common knowledge that interns get to do the jobs paid employees don't want to do--like answering the phones and getting coffee and lunches, it seems one particular intern at Bad Boy Entertainment was unaware, and she's pissed that that's the kind of work she was hired to do. A former unpaid intern at Bad Boy, Rashida Salaam, has filed a lawsuit against the company claiming she took the position in January 2012 until May 2012 and couldn't believe what she was forced to do: get coffee and lunches, make deliveries, decorate the office on holidays, answer the phone and wrap presents. She is apparently so upset at the work she had to do for Diddy and his company that she is suing them. The thing is, due to recent changes in the law regarding unpaid internships, she may just have a case-- there's no more free labor for course credit.

Scott Storch Robbed In NYC

Scott Storch filed a police report saying he was robbed and threatened by two men in New York today. Scott Storch ran into some trouble in NYC today, and had to head to a police station. Although usually when we hear about the producer he's the one who is in trouble with the cops, this time he was the one who filed the police report, looking for two men who robbed him. The producer says that he was robbed at gunpoint outside the New York Palace hotel on Madison Avenue. As the report says, Storch was approached by two men with guns while he was waiting inside an SUV. The men told him, "Give us all your jewelry and cash or you're dead." Storch handed over his suitcase which contained $4,000 to $5,000 in cash, as well as several pieces of jewelry. On top of this, the robbers also asked the driver to hand over the SUV keys so that they weren't able to drive away. Storch says that the two guys eventually ran off and didn't open fire, and although Storch ran after them to see where they were headed, they got away. The producer is in town for the MTV VMAs, which take place this weekend. He went to a nearby police station and filed a report following the incident.
