ScHoolboy Q Talks "Oxymoron" Pressure & Spending $6,000 A Month On Weed

ScHoolboy Q speaks on the pressure to measure of to Kendrick Lamar, and attempting to stop smoking weed. Since early on in the summer, we've had a pretty consistent flood of anticipated rap releases, but we're still waiting on a couple big ones-- ScHoolboy Q's Oxymoron among them. The rapper sat down with Emilo Sparks to talk about the anticipationa round the album, competition with Kendrick Lamar, and his desire to quit smoking weed. "Of course there's a little bit of pressure" said Q of measuring up to Kendrick's success, but overall felt his project should be judged differently. "I'm not Kendrick. You can't expect my album to sound exactly like his" The TDE rapper expressed confidence in his major label debut, but is also keeping in mind that anything could happen. "I know for a fact that it's gonna do good, but at the same time I don't know," he said. "Sometimes shit goes bad." Q spoke of how the pressure has only risen as K.DOt has become more of an icon in the rap game. "That's Kendrick Lamar, when you say his name now, it's a fucking big deal." he said. "He's up there with 'Ye and all them." Overall, ScHoolboy just wants to share his new material with his fans. "I know the album is good" said Q, "and I just want people to appreciate it." Q then shared a surprising fact about his well-known smoking habit. "I'm actually trying to quit smoking weed," he revealed. The reasoning behind the decision was mainly a financial one. "The amount I've spent, I could have bought my mama a new house, new car," he said. "I spend like 6,000 a month on weed. It's like an ounce every other day." Q clarified that he wasn't the only one smoking his stash, "I'm always supplying the weed all the time," he said. The Black Hippy emcee still hasn't put things in motion in terms of quitting, but it is something he's looking to do in the future. Watch the full interview below.
