lil durk pleads guilty on gun charges, gets probation

Lil Durk receives 18 months probation instead of jail time, stemming from his gun charges. Lil Durk narrowly avoided jail time in court today, after pleading guilty to gun charges. Fortunately for Durk, he won't be headed the same direction as Gucci Mane (at least not right now), as he's been given probation instead of prison. Chicago Tribune reports that the prosecution had recommended Durk receive at least one year behind bars for gun possession, however Judge Joseph Kazmierski, Jr. decided to give the Chicago rapper 18 months probation and credited him for the 43 days he already spent in jail. The judge also encouraged Durk to reflect on his actions and be "part of the cure of what's going on" with the city's overwhelming violence. "The key word is I'll be staying out of trouble," Durk said to the Tribune following his court appearance, "You can put a capital N – for never." Durk's lawyer, Sam Adam Jr., echoed his sentiments, "This is a young man who completely has an opportunity to move forward in his life. He has a big record contract, he is supporting his children, he's with the child's mother. This is a case that is the exception to the rule that you see at 26th Street."
