Home > News > J. Cole Says He's Looking For A Female Rapper/Singer, Explains Social Media Silence J. Cole Says He's Looking For A Female Rapper/Singer, Explains Social Media Silence

J. Cole goes in-depth about his label with Funkmaster Flex and describes why he isn't on social media very much. J. Cole has quietly become an A&R and talent searcher over the last few years and has assembled a label with a variety of very formidable artists. Recently hopping on the phone with Hot 97 and Funkmaster Flex, the North Carolina native talked about his artists and says he's still looking to find an "Aaliyah-type" singer or a "Missy-type" rapper. “We in that new age, Flex where artists don't really need the label.” J. Cole said when asked about his Dreamville imprint. “They need that stamp and they gone. They build everything on they own... I’m still looking forward to scooping that singer, that Aaliyah-type or that Missy type that I can put that Timbaland touch on and really give my sound to. But in the meantime, I just got some real monsters that don’t even really need me. So, I’m just pushing them, showing them the way as much as possible.” Cole is also someone who is known to stay off of social media and out of interviews for the most part. He addressed why explaining that mystery is a good thing. “With so many people listening, I don't know what I would say to five/six million people," he explained. "I don't even know what I want to talk about to them... I believe in staying away until you got something to say. I don’t believe in the art of talking to be talking or talking to be heard." Also during the interview, Funkmaster Flex and J. Cole talked about NASCAR, his relationship with Dale Earnhardt Jr. and highlighted the strengths of Dreamville's Cozz, Omen and Bas. Cole released his latest album at the end of last year with 2014 Forest Hills Drive. Listen to all parts of the interview below: [Via HHDX]

Dame Dash & Kanye West Co-Produce "Loisadas" Movie

Each episode of "Loisadas" will be available for purchase or you can pre-order the full flick now. Dame Dash and Kanye West are working together again. As promised, the Roc-a-fella Records co-founder has teamed up with his former artist-producer on a new movie titled Loisadas. The first installment of the digital seven-episode series premiered yesterday (February 26) via Complex. Loisadas appears to be a grimey, action street flick. It's set to feature cameos by Smoke DZA, The Lox, Murda Mook and others. Dash's film company, Damon Dash Studios, is responsible for the production of the project. Dash co-wrote the script, directed the film and is credited as an executive producer alongside Kanye West. On Instagram, he expressed his excitement over the film's debut. "Today is the day I walk it like I talk it," he wrote via IG. "I put up my own money and invested in myself...my ability to direct as well as my ability to build the platform to present my art so no one can tell me what to do on any level so today I'm officially launching two things...my movie which I'm very proud off @loisaidas @damondashstudios." Dash also states that he's developed his own version of Netflix that will feature all-original content. The movie streaming site he's referring to is called Poppington Group Television b.k.a. PGTV. Loisaidas will be released in an episodic format via this platform in addition to on its own site, loisaidasthemovie.com. Each episode will be available for purchase or pre-order the full flick now. Jay Z An Inspiration For "Empire," Creator Danny Strong Says

"Empire" creator Danny Strong says Jay Z "very much inspired certain elements of Lucious Lyon." Fans of Fox's hit show Empire have speculated on the inspiration behind many of the character's and storylines for weeks. Empire's creator, Danny Strong, recently stopped by Sway in the Morning to talk about his Hip Hop-oriented series and explain whether or not the script draws from real-life people and events. Sway – who appeared in a recent episode of the series – asks Strong about the backlash the series has drawn due to people's perception of the show perpetuating negative stereotypes within the black community, specifically Lucious Lyon's drug-dealing rags-to-riches narrative. Strong says that he hasn't heard too much backlash from the show but admits that Lucious, played by Terrence Howard, is inspired by Jay Z. "There's certainly some truth in that, the Jay Z story, which very much inspired certain elements of Lucious Lyon, was that story," he says. "The entire cast is African-American. We're going to have all different types of characters and we're just going to tell good stories. We're not going to sit here and play defense or think that our show is a representation of black culture in its entirety...It's just this story." After saying that the criminal-gangster-related theme isn't just specific to black culture and that Italians, Irish, Jews and "so many different cultures" in American society can identify with it, Strong calls the series an "American dream story." "This is metaphorical of so many people in America," he says, "how they rise up to power is through these means." Strong also acknowledged that the show draws from the Kennedy family, as well. Kanye West Gets North West and Donda West's Birthdates Tattooed On Him

Kanye West gets 2 new tattoos in honor of his daughter and mother. Since we've known him, Kanye West has never been afraid to express his feelings for either his mother and/or daughter, so for him to get 2 new tattoos in their honor shouldn't come much as a surprise. On Thursday night (or more like Friday morning overseas), Kanye West did just that though, and got his daughter and mother's birth dates tattooed on his wrists. However, Yeezy was apparently "3, 4 seconds from wildin’" because Kim, who captured the photos, said she had to stop him from getting the tattoo on his forehead as he originally wanted. Sharing the tattoo progress, Kim posted the pics on her twitter and even gave a preview of what his forehead tattoo would've looked like if he followed through with it (see below). Kanye West Apologizes To Beck & Bruno Mars On Twitter

Kanye West took to Twitter to apologize both to Beck and Bruno Mars, the latter of which he asked to contribute to a new song. Kanye West is not an avid Twitter user, but in the past we've seen him use his account for moments of passionate fury. Those days are over (we think), as Ye took to his timeline today to officially apologize to Beck for his semi-interruption, and post-show comments at the Grammys. While he was at it, he decided to also throw an apology Bruno Mars' way. Apparently Ye had "hated on" the singer in the past, but now totally respects his artistry (we're guessing "Uptown Funk" may have done it). Then, we got a third tweet, in which Ye put out an invitation for Bruno Mars to sing the hook on a song for his new record, which he revealed was produced by himself, Diddy, and longtime collaborator 88-Keys. He also shared that he planned to have Tyler, The Creator (who has also infamously clowned Mars) direct the video. View West's tweet below, and watch his Zane Lowe interview that went down today here. KANYE WEST ✔ @kanyewest Follow I would like to publicly apologize to Beck, I’m sorry Beck. 5:19 PM - 26 Feb 2015 KANYE WEST ✔ @kanyewest Follow I also want to publicly apologize to Bruno Mars, I used to hate on him but I really respect what he does as an artist. 5:20 PM - 26 Feb 2015 KANYE WEST ✔ @kanyewest Follow I also would love for Bruno to sing this hook on this song 88 Keys / Puff and I produced… I even asked Tyler to shoot the vid. 5:20 PM - 26 Feb 2015 [Via HNHH]

Childish Gambino Confirms He'll Be Playing A Stripper In "Magic Mike XXL"

Childish Gambino shares some info on his role in the new Magic Mike movie. Before he was Childish Gambino, Donald Glover had a very successful career in comedy. The actor turnt rapper made his way up through Derrick Comedy sketches, later landing a gig writing for 30 Rock, and eventually nabbing his most successful role as Troy in Community. While Glover has decided to pursue music full time, and retired from the NBC primetime shift, he will be doing a bit of acting in the upcoming Magic Mike sequel, which he shared some info about in a new interview with Collider. While it was common knowledge that Gambino had been cast in the film, it wasn't clear whether or not he would in fact be playing a stripper (seeing as the plot of the film centers around a male exotic dancing), but Glover was up-front about his placement in the comedy. "I definitely…I definitely show myself a little bit,' he confrimed. "It’s a funny thing. I just never really – that energy is, I don’t know, getting into it is cool, to just dive into something like that. I’ve never been in that world. It’s very few people who have ever been a convention center filled with 900 women screaming. That’s a feeling that I feel like very few people know. It was crazy. I met so many people. There was a girl there, I was having a scene with her, just talking, and everybody was just so interesting, but supportive. It’s hard to be that supportive when you’re in that room for that long, screaming." Bino was also asked a question regarding whether he'd ever return to Community, to which he optimistically replied... never say never. "Everything’s possible," Glover said of a reunion with the cast. "I would never be like, 'Nah, I’m not doing it.' Everything’s possible. I love it over there. I just always want to make sure it’s good for the—you never want to do something just to make people feel good. You always want to make sure it works. I want my kids one day, I don’t want them to be like, 'That episode was whack.' And I’m like, 'But people really wanted it.' [Laughs] You know? No one cares. I always want the art to stand, because in the end that’s all that’s left. [Via HNHH]

Stream Kanye West's Zane Lowe Interview On BBC Radio 1

Kanye West's second interview with Zane Lowe will air at 3 PM EST time. Kanye West's original interview with Zane Lowe has made it's way into the canon of legendary Kanye West interviews, and we're hoping his latest sit down with the BBC radio personality will leave a similar mark on history. The interview will stream on BBC 1 starting at 3 PM EST today, with a mix from Zane preceding the interview. With a new album on the way, and Ye's debut of his new song, "All Day", just yesterday at the Brit Awards, there should be plenty to talk about. You can watch the full interview below. [Via HNHH]

Kendrick Lamar Gave Michael Jackson's Son A Preview Of His New Album

Kendrick Lamar played some new music for Prince Jackson. Kendrick Lamar has been kind of stingy with sharing new music this year, leaking tracks off his untitled album sparingly. The two official singles he has shared, "i" and "The Blacker the Berry," are enough to get most of us hype for what's to come, and fiend for more (so the plan is working). It's safe to say that if Kendrick decided to give us an album preview, we'd probably be foaming at the mouth. The one lucky fan who had this exact opportunity last night appears to be relatively relaxed about it though, probably because he's the son of Michael Jackson so this is just life. Prince Jackson took to his twitter to share a photo of him and K. Dot, tweeting, "Had the great honor of meeting Kendrick and hearing some of his new tracks for his upcoming album." Jackson's friend, Omer Bhatti, also had the same privilege, writing on Facebook, "Such a great pleasure meeting @kendricklamar last night and hearing him play some new tracks for his upcoming album. Humble guy and the Music is on another level." It should be noted Bhatti included a fire emoji at the end of his caption, so we can probably assume this new music was very hot(tttt). Every Song Off Drake's "If You're Reading This It's Too Late" Is Charting On Billboard

Drake breaks a record with 21 songs currently charting on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Over the weekend, on Charts Don't Lie, we saw how basically half of Drake's new project was charting on Billboard's Hot 100. That alone seemed to be quite the feat, but Drake's now taken that a step further with EVERY song off IYRTITL charting on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Billboard reports how in addition to the ten songs that were already charting on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart, seven more have entered, allowing Drizzy to break his own Billboard record. Along with those 17 tracks, he's featured on four other charting songs, making for a total of 21 tracks currently climbing the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The previous record set for most concurrently-charting songs was a total of 14. View the full list of titles and chart placement on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart below, via Billboard. Rich Homie Quan Says He's Taking Break From Rich Gang

Rich Homie Quan reveals he's stepping away from Rich Gang in order to focus on Quan. Last night Rich Homie Quan dropped off a new track with frequent collaborator Young Thug, "Homie," however those frequent collaborations may slow down a minute as Rich Homie says in a recent interview that he's going to be focusing on his solo music. During an interview with Atlanta radio station Hot 107.9, the rapper happens to mention off-air that he'll be stepping away from his Rich Gang duties as he preps his long-delayed debut album. "I have been focusing more on myself, I've stepped away from Rich Gang a little bit just to get back to Quan. The people want Quan back" he says to the Durtty Boyz. "It's cool for the moment." "It's been so long since I dropped a mixtape...it's time for Atlanta and the world to know that Quan has improved and it's a new sound here. This new sound honestly, I feel as if I had me a Grammy bro," Rich Homie Quan continued to say on-air. It sounds like we can expect a free album from him shortly. Watch the full interview below. 50 Cent Says "Empire" Moves Too Fast, Reminds Him Of "Glee"

50 Cent takes some more light-hearted shots at Fox's "Empire" in an interview with MTV. 50 Cent hasn't been pleased with FOX's new hit show, Empire, since it's trailer debuted. The rapper feels that the show took a little too much inspiration from his own primetime drama, Power, and has been sporadically taking shots at the series over the last few months. In a new interview with MTV, Fif was asked about the show once again, and while he did have a few nice things to say about it, he found quite a few opportunities to slag the show. “It’s like Glee,” said 50 with a smirk. "It’s like Glee with a little Hip Hop music in it.” The G-Unit rapper went on to criticize the series for speeding through the plot. “I was like, ‘Damn. What happened? What happened to the rest of the story?’” He said of Cookie's burst into the pilot. "I don’t know what’s going on. It started moving real fast.” 50 did have a couple of positive things to say about Empire, though it seemed he was peaking more out of respect for personal friends Timbaland and Terrence Howard than anything. “I think it’s good, and I’m happy the show’s successful,” he admitted hesitantly. First Week Sales Projections For Big Sean's "Dark Sky Paradise", Tyga & Chris Brown's "Fan Of A Fan"

The sales figures are in for "Dark Sky Paradise" and "Fan Of A Fan: The Album". It's a big week in rap releases, with both Big Sean and the Chris Brown/Tyga project hitting stores this Tuesday. The projections are in, and while neither are doing Drake numbers, both albums are coming in with decent sales. Big Sean, who had the considerably bigger single of the two acts, will of course move more units, projected to sell 120k-130k (140k-150k including streams), while Chris Brown and Tyga have also given us an admirable showing for an album that's received less of a push, coming in at 50k-55k (70k-75k including streams). Of course these are just projections, and perhaps another development in the ongoing Chris Brown, Tyga, and Drake beef trifecta could give Fan Of A Fan another boost before the week's end. Kanye West Debuted "All Day" Live At The 2015 Brit Awards

Watch the 2015 Brit Awards live, with performances from Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Madonna, Kanye West & more. The 2015 Brit Awards are going down right now, in London's O2 arena. For those of us who aren't habituated overseas, we've got a live stream of the entire event via YouTube. Kanye West made a return to the Brit Awards this year after taking a nine-year hiatus from the event, and he made sure his return was memorable by debuting the highly anticipated "All Day" single. The song was initially sidetracked by "Only" and "Wolves," and while it was uncertain if it would see the light of day, those qualms can now be put to rest. He performed it for the first time with a massive posse backing him on stage. Check out Kanye's energetic performance below, which included an introduction from wifey Kim Kardashian. Does the song live up to your expectations?

OVO Hush Takes Shots At Tyga & Chris Brown

Drake's crew member Hush takes aim at Tyga and Chris Brown on social media. While you may never hear a reply from Drake if you diss him, OVO Hush seems to be more than willing to reply on Drizzy's behalf. A few months back, when the Drake vs. Tyga drama first kicked off, another OVO affiliate, Chubbs, took to Instagram to air out Tyga with an infamous clip of the rapper on MTV's defunct show "Bustas." With the beef renewed in light of Drake's subliminal jab at Tyga, and all the interviews Tyga has been doing, OVO's Hush took shots at the Fan of a Fan artists in separate Instagram posts. For Tyga, he cooked up a version of Drake's If You're Reading This It's Too Late mixtape-album cover that read, "Tyga if you love her its too early." He took another shot in his caption, which read, "Wanna know what rhymes with Tyga's a cougar?..... child abuser." Hush also posted a video clip from Breezy's recent interview with Hot 97, captioning it, "This just in: It's just jealousy ya'll. Back to you, Bob! #NotSoBreakingNews." Drake actually commented on that post, peep a screenshot up top. Peep both IG posts below. [Via HNHH]

Kanye West Is Doing Another Zane Lowe Interview

Kanye West and Zane Lowe will sit down for another interview on BBC 1 tomorrow. Kanye West's interviews are generally more eventful than that of your average artists, and Zane Lowe interviews are generally a little more eventful than that of your average radio host's, so together, you get a pretty magical combination. When Kanye's last interview with Zane dropped back in 2013, it spawned plenty of classic Kanye quotes, and was even the source for Jimmy Kimmel's parody that launched he and Ye's brief feud. Needless to say, we have big expectations for Kanye's latest sit down with Zane Lowe, which will be shared tomorrow through BBC 1. As Lowe will be parting ways with the station in March (he's moving to Apple), this will be one of his final moments with BBC, and should be a good way to out. Look out for the interview to air tomorrow at 7 PM London time. Watch their first interview here. [Via HNHH]

Arrest Made In Stabbing Of Two Nicki Minaj Team Members

A 31-year old man was arrested in connection to the stabbing of two members of Nicki Minaj's entourage. The other week Nicki Minaj took to Instagram to grieve for the loss of a friend and entourage member, De'Von Pickett , who was stabbed in Philadelphia during "The Pinkprint" tour rehearsals. That wasn't the only member she was grieving for though, as another man, Eric Parker, was also stabbed during the incident and he is currently still in critical condition. At the time that the news broke, we didn't have very many details on the situation other than the fact that it happened. Now police have made some headway in their investigation, and an arrest has been made. USA Today reports that Philadelphia native, 31-year-old Pierce Boykin, was arrested this past Monday on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and related offenses. It is unclear if police are still looking for another suspect. The incident occurred outside a bar, after both victims were arguing inside the bar with another man. We'll keep you posted as the police investigation continues. [Via HNHH]

Donald Glover May Stop Using Childish Gambino Moniker

Donald Glover says the Childish Gambino "period" of his life may be coming to an end. Donald Glover, known to the rap world as Childish Gambino, is currently promoting a new film he's in ("The Lazarus Effect") and sat down with The Today Show this morning to discuss it. After talking about the movie, Gambino spoke briefly on his rap career and what the current status of it is. "I always wanna do music, like I love music, and I wanna produce," he said when asked if he'd be putting down the mic. However, if he does continue making music, it may not be as Childish Gambino. "I guess Childish Gambino is like a period in my art time, and I want to have periods in my life, so I feel like Childish Gambino is a period that should come to a close," Glover said. "I like endings." Let's hope this ending equals a new beginning, though. He goes on to address "Spiderman" rumors and more. Watch the full clip below. "The Lazarus Effect" is in theatres this weekend.

Yelawolf Announces "Love Story" Release Date, Reveals Cover Art

Yelawolf has locked in a release date for his album "Love Story." Yelawolf is preparing to follow up 2011's Radioactive with Love Story this spring. The rapper warmed us up for what to expect from the new album with leaks like the "Sons of Anarchy"-featured "Till It's Gone," and just the other week, "Whiskey In A Bottle." We'll hopefully get more of the same on the upcoming album, which will be executive produced by Eminem (and hopefully we get another Em collaboration on it too). In a press release today, Yela revealed the cover art which features a taxidermy wolf (by the looks of it), and a release date: April 21st. According to the press release, the album was recorded over the past two years at Nashville's legendary Blackbird Studios. Yelawolf also promises a more passionate album than his debut, and says of the album, "I’m telling the truth about a lot of things. I try to be as honest as I can with everything I do." Stay tuned, and check out the lyric video for "Whiskey In A Bottle" below. [Via HNHH]

Concert Date For Kanye West And Rihanna Joint Tour Leaks

It appears Kanye and Rihanna are indeed going on tour together this summer. More evidence has surfaced online recently validating the rumors that Kanye West and Rihanna are indeed hitting the road together. Apparently, LiveNation made a mistake on Monday and accidentally posted a show that was billed for “Kanye West & Rihanna” for July 29th in Tallinn, Estonia. According to the post, which has since been deleted, pre-sale tickets were set to be available for next Thursday, March 5th. While there’s still no actual confirmation from either party yet, I think its safe to say that this “rumored” tour is happening. After all, Kanye is executive producing Rihanna’s entire new album and the duo did just team up “FourFiveSeconds”. We’ll keep you posted on any official announcement and/or tour dates that gets revealed. Peep the leak below. [Via XXL]

Drake Changes Lyrics To "Energy," Seemingly Takes A Shot At Chris Brown

Drake changed a line in "Energy" to "I got R&B niggas that I gotta act like I like" at his show in Auckland, New Zealand last night. Drake and Chris Brown have had a weird relationship for a minute now. The two have had on-again-off-again beef, mainly over their respective on-again-off-again romances with Rihanna, but most recently, they've gotten into it over a pre-existing feud between Drake and Tyga. Chris wasn't really involved in the beef until a string of interviews over the weekend, where the singer made it clear that he's "not messing" with Drake, naturally taking Tyga's side (the two just recorded an album together, and are currently on tour). Now it seems that Drake has fired back at Brown, in the most Drake way possible, a not-so-subtle, subliminal diss during one of his performances. While performing in Auckland, New Zealand, Drizzy reportedly changed a line in his new track, "Energy" to "I got R&B niggas that I gotta act like I like", replacing the original "RAP niggas" subject in the original quip. While he doesn't call Chris by name, there's only one R&B singer Drake could really be talking about here. We've yet to see footage of the diss, but Drake fan site Word On Road was there to catch the shot. Word On Road @WordOnRd Follow Drake performs "HYFR" into "Energy"..."I got r&b niggas that I gotta act like I like." then "Started From The Bottom". #Auckland Is this the start of a back-and-forth between Chris Brown and Drake? Or is it likely to blow over? Let us know in the comments. [Via HNHH]

Chris Brown Says He's Doesn't Mess With Drake

Chris Brown and Tyga speak on Tyga's recent tweet responding to Drake's subliminal shot. Collaborators Tyga and Chris Brown were guests on Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning, and things turned heated when they started discussing Drake. We're all aware that Breezy and Drake have had a tumultuous relationship in the past, however the two haven't been entangled in any beef for a minute (although Chris did call out Drake during his Karrueche rant the two months back). Recently the spotlight has been on Tyga x Drake beef, with Drizzy's subliminal shot on "6 PM In New York" and Tyga's now-deleted twitter response. During the rapper and singer's joint interview, Chris Brown was adamant about not discussing "dude" (aka Drake) because he doesn't make them any money, whereas their album, Fan of a Fan, does. "Listen, this nigga not making us no money by talking about him. We making him hot by talking about this nigga, if he come up here on your radio station great, then that's gonna give y'all some ratings, but I'm not gunna give this nigga no more ratings by talking about this dude," Chris Brown told the Hot 97 hosts. Both parties were asked about Tyga's deleted tweet, where T-Raww brought Chris Brown into the mix by alleging that Drake was "ducking the fade from Brown." Chris Brown replied, "I'm not taking his side cause I don't mess with dude." He added, "I'm on probation, that's all I'ma say right now." On Tyga's end, he said he tweeted that in the heat of the moment and later thought better of it. Since Brown refused to give Drake any more publicity, the conversation turned to Cash Money label drama. Watch the full interview below. [Via HNHH]

Common and John Legend Win An Oscar For "Glory"

Common and John Legend's "Glory," from the movie "Selma," wins Best Original Song at the 87th Academy Awards. In 2006, Three 6 Mafia won an Oscar for "It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp," from the "Hustle & Flow" soundtrack. Nine years later, at tonight's Academy Awards, another rapper--Common--has taken home the golden statue for Best Original Song. He shared the Award with GOOD labelmate John Legend for their work together on "Glory," from the movie "Selma." Common also co-starred in the film, playing Civil Rights leader James Bevel. During the ceremony, Common and Legend performed "Glory" and received a standing ovation. Watch the performance below. John Legend closed their acceptance speech, saying: "Selma is now, because the struggle for justice is right now." Where does this rank among Common and John Legend's career accolades? [Via HNHH]

Troy Ave Says He Has A 7-Figure Deal In The Works

Troy Ave claims to be working on a joint-venture deal in the seven-figure range. Troy Ave is doing pretty well for himself as an independent artist, and while he's looking to maintain that level of creative control, he's looking for some type of major label backing as well. Speaking with HOT 97, Troy revealed that he's in the process of working out a joint-venture deal, which while he did not elaborate, we can assume would be earning a major label imprint for his indie label, BSB Records. "I'm going to get a joint venture," Troy shared. "Everything I'm doing I told people I was going to do but they didn't believe me. I don't blame them. You've got people that just say things. Where I'm from you don't just say things, your word is everything." Whether or not the proposed "7-figure" deal would involve T.I., Ave maintained that the rapper would be involved in his career regardless. “T.I.’s the home team. We’re putting plays together behind the scenes,” he explained. “T.I. is definitely influential in everything I do, but I got the number one independent label in the streets–BSB Records. Self made and self paid and we're just doing what we do.” Watch the full interview below.

Chris Brown's Art Brings In Over $60,000 At Miami Auction

Chris Brown and KAI's collaborations were a hit at Miami's Urban Art Week. Chris Brown has been known to dip his toes in the visual arts, but his work always seemed more of a personal hobby than a business venture. This week, the singer proved that he could actually generate money from his projects, at least when respected street artist KAI is involved. Chris teamed with KAI for a few collaborations to be shown at Fine Art Auction Miami's Urban Art Week, and with the sales numbers in, Brown seems to have done pretty well for himself. The two worked on seven pieces together, and while only 3 sold, they still brought in over $60,000 in revenue, with two canvases going at 25k a piece, while the third was purchased for around $12,000. Half Of The Proceeds went to charity. You can view some of the works (some of which actually depict Brown) below. Would you drop 5 figures on any of these? (we're sure they were asking a little more for the vintage Porsche). [Via HNHH]

Daylyt Threatens Tyga Over Drake Twitter Diss

Daylyt issues a warning to Tyga about dissing Drake and threatens to take his chain. Daylyt is mad and he is mad at Tyga. The California lyricist recently decided to put out his own video warning Tyga to never negatively communicate about Drake or his camp again. "Don't say anything about Drake," Daylyt said in an angered tone in a video obtained by Vlad TV. "Not one tweet, not nothing or we are going to come touch you bro. We came and took that chain the first time and we can do it again." He begins the video talking about his allegiance to Toronto rapper and his OVO movement. "I just want to make some shit known and make some shit loud and clear and niggas better get my message," he said. "Tyga, all that shit, just let it go... I don't wanna see no more tweets, none of that shit my nigga. Like I told ya'll I'm fucking with Drake. I fuck with the OVO movement. It's official my nigga so it's ride or die and I'm riding or dying with OVO. I don't give a fuck about you from Cali. That shit don't mean nothing to me bro." Tyga recently called Drake a "bitch" on Twitter after he heard an alleged subliminal diss on his If You're Reading This It's Too Late album. The tweet was quickly deleted soon after. Late last year Tyga said that Drake was "fake" to him. Watch the full video segment below: [Via HHDX]

Drake Leaves Birdman & Cash Money Off "If Your Reading This Its Too Late" Credits

A handwritten letter included with the release of Drake's latest album thanks everyone, except for Birdman and YMCMB. Drake's latest album release caught everyone by surprise but it's the LP's details that might be even more surprising. Along with the album drop, the Toronto native released a handwritten letter claiming his album was made for friends and associates. Everyone from the Toronto Raptors to RiFF RAFF was listed, however one very noticeable omission was made: his label and its boss. Birdman didn't make the cut on a pretty extensive list. Noisey recently wrote an editorial about the details contained in If Your Reading This Its Too Late. It has been rumored that Drake dropped If You're Reading This Its Too Late album in order to fulfill his YMCMB contract and save Views From The 6 for either an independent release or one with another label. Amber Rose Says Wiz Khalifa "Was The Love Of My Life"

"I sat in the house and cried for four months straight," Rose says. Nearly six months after filing for divorce from Wiz Khalifa, Amber Rose stopped by The Hot 97 Morning Show and addressed her life after marriage and current return to dating life. When asked about her current romantic interests, Rose admitted to going on several dates with different celebrities. "They are famous," she said before adding, "they're not in the music industry though...I personally feel like I don't wanna date a regular guy. I feel like a regular guy's not fully gonna understand my life...There's actors, there's artists. There's poets. There's people out there." Speaking about the fallout after her divorce, Rose addressed the months after the divorce. "I sat in the house and cried for four months straight," she said. "Everyday, all day, when I woke up, when I went to bed. In the middle of the night...Wiz was the love of my life. He broke my heart. You know, now, it's months later and I'm just trying to date. I just want nice guys. That's it." Later in the interview, Rose went on to address headlines about her twerking on Chris Brown, saying that she was "being petty, 'cause I was hurt over my husband." "Since I filed for divorce my husband has been out with 50 different women," she said. "Pulling sweaty white bitches out the club. All these other girls, I ain't even gonna talk shit, all these other girls, do whatever. Not only was I in the house crying everyday, mourning my husband. You know, I had to see that on top of it. And I'm in the house. I was like, 'You know what Chy?' [to] my friend [Blac] Chyna, 'Maybe we should go out tonight. Maybe I should go out and just have a couple drinks, let loose a little bit.' Chris Brown, I did Chris Brown's video seven years ago. He's been my friend for such a long time. I wasn't like, 'I'm gonna go to the club and be all over the Internet.' He was there and we danced for like 20 seconds. Yes it was petty. It was so petty. But that's what happens as women when you get your feelings hurt, you're in a very vulnerable state to be petty at times. That was one of those times." [Via HHDX]

Zane Lowe Leaves BBC Radio 1 For Apple

The Radio 1 host will reportedly work on Apple's new iTunes Radio service. After winning an award as music broadcaster of the year at the Radio Academy Awards in 2014, Radio 1 host Zane Lowe has announced he is leaving the BBC after more than a decade with the company. Lowe, who has interviewed rappers like Kanye West, Eminem, and Jay Z during that time, will move to Apple to fill a yet-to-be-announced position. In addition to his work at Radio 1, Lowe has served as a music producer for years and recently received a Grammy nomination for his writing and production on Sam Smith's debut album, In the Lonely Hour. While he has yet to announce his next position himself, Lowe's move to Apple will find him working on the company's new iTunes Radio service, according to The Guardian. Apple is rumored to be "working toward a revamp of the Beats Music subscription streaming service it acquired last year," according to Mac Rumors and is reportedly hoping to fold "Beats into the iTunes brand and [integrate] it with OS X and iOS." iTunes Radio launched in the United States late in 2013 and has yet to expand past Australia despite rumors of an international rollout planned for last year. Addressing his departure in a statement, Lowe thanked BBC for the opportunity and dropped a hint about his next steps. “I want to thank everyone at Radio 1 – for their support and friendship," he said. "The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country’s best music fans. I’ve loved every minute of it. Exciting times lie ahead.” Lowe will be replaced by fellow Radio 1 host Annie Mac and his last broadcast will take place on March 5. [Via HHDX]

Portland Trailblazers' Damian Lillard Freestyles On "Sway In The Morning"

Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers stopped by Sway In The Morning to drop some impressive bars. The laundry list of basketball players with rap careers is long. From Ron Artest to Shaq, some of them shouldn't quit their day job, some of them might have a future in the game. Damian Lillard is possibly one of the latter. The Portland Trailblazers guard stopped by Sway In The Morning on Shade 45 during NBA All-Star Weekend and dropped some pretty impressive bars. The NBA player is somewhat known for his ability to rap. In September, 2013 he created a hashtag and weekly video series on Instagram called #4BarFriday where he would post his own raps as well as take fan submissions. Dame has also appeared and rapped on late night talk shows including TBS' Conan O'Brien Show. Lillard is a two-time All-Star will the Blazers. This season he's averaging 21.5 PPG and 6.3 APG. First Week Sales Projections For Drake's "If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late"

Find out how much Drake is expected to move opening week with his surprise album. Drake surprised us last night by releasing an album, although fans were hoping for a free mixtape, it'll still do the trick to hold us over until Views From The 6 is ready. The 6 God had initially put up a stream for If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late on his Soundcloud, but seemingly thought better of it and took it down thirty minutes later. This left late-night listeners with one option: hit the iTunes link and purchase it. Thus it's not a surprise that Drake is going to be moving weight opening week, with an expected 500,000 units to be sold by the time Sunday hits. That's not even a full week out, and it'll already be gold. Stay tuned for the official numbers from Billboard some time next week. [Via HDD]

Young Money Cypher & Interview Coming Soon?

A YMCMB cypher and interview maybe coming soon. Yesterday photos surfaced online of Lil Wayne and his fellow YMCMB crew on the set of some sort of video shoot alongside frequent business partner Karen Civil. While it was unknown at the time what they we’re shooting, HHNM is reporting today that an exclusive cypher and interview is on the way. According to reports, CivilTV will be directing this upcoming cypher and interview, which will presumably touch on the current status of YMCMB and their recent label woes. By the looks of the pictures, fans can expect to hear Weezy, Mack Maine, Gudda Gudda, Lil Twist, Cory Gunz and Flow all allegedly take turns on the mic. Unfortunately, there were no Drake or Nicki sightings in the pics, but you never know what could be up their sleeves. Until we get further news or actual confirmation on this possible cypher & interview, be sure to check out Drizzy’s new surprise mixtape, If Youre Reading This Its Too Late. (Don’t forget Weezy’s Free Album is on the way too y’all.) [VIA HNHH]

Tyga Calls Drake a Bitch On Twitter

Tyga says that Drake is "still a bitch." After hinting that something was on the way with his "Jungle" short film, Drizzy quickly set the internet on fire with his late night drop If You're Reading This It's Too Late. Some of the rumors were partially true, as he did drop it near Valentine's Day, however it's not a free mixtape and it's not a follow up to So Far Gone (that woulda been too easy). While most are celebrating the Drizzy release, Tyga still has ill feelings towards his YMCMB counterpart. The rapper took to twitter to air out his thoughts...before changing his mind and deleting the tweet. But, yay internet, the tweet remains alive in a screenshot. Tyga tweeted shortly after the tape dropped around midnight, "Drake u still a bitch. All that sneak dissing is weak. Just pull up. I know where u live and you know my address.. U been ducking the fade from Brown." As you'll probably recall, Tyga first revealed he had a strong dislike for the Toronto rapper during a VIBE interview last year. [via HHNM]
