DJ Quik Says He's About To Sue A Certain Compton Rapper

Dj Quik There are many rap talents in Compton right now. Which one of them is about to get sued by DJ Quik? And why? DJ Quik, a legend in the fields of both rapping and producing, has announced his plans to sue an unnamed rapper from his hometown of Compton. "Guess what Compton rapper I'm about to sue," wrote Quik in a tweet that has since been deleted. The tweet that followed -- "You'll see" -- is still up on his page. Quik's latest project was Rosecrans, a joint release with young Compton rapper Problem -- surely he's not a target of the forthcoming lawsuit. The other notable Compton artist whom Quik has worked in the past year is The Game. Unsurprisingly, the Documentary 2.5 track "Quik's Groove (The One)" is produced by Quik, and the G-funk vet also lays down a verse. The song also features Sevyn Streeter and Micah -- listen here. So if it's not Game, then who could it be? Let us know in the comments, and take a look at the since-deleted tweet in question (captured by XXL) in the above gallery.

First-Week Sales Projections For YG's "Still Brazy"

YG "Still Brazy" is expected to sell less than "My Krazy Life," though that doesn't say anything about the quality of YG's latest work. YG's sophomore album, Still Brazy, technically dropped yesterday (June 17), though he provided early streaming access via Apple Music on Tuesday night (June 14). HDD, the source that is known for providing first-week projections a day after an album's release, has already released its forecast for Still Brazy. It's assumed that the numbers are a combination of Friday's sales plus the streaming equivalent sales that were tracked from the album's early appearance on Apple Music. With that being said, the industry publication has predicted that Still Brazy will move somewhere between 37-42k copies including streaming. In pure album sales, the first-week sales are expected to fall between 27-30k. If those projections stick, Still Brazy will have underperformed YG's debut album by selling about 20,000 less copies than My Krazy Lifewas able to move in its first week. Still, Still Brazy has been met with the same type of universal acclaim as My Krazy Life, and it's a less radio-friendly album in many ways. My Krazy Life made its debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, and Still Brazy is expected to do the same, falling way short of the presumptive No. 1, the Red Hot Chili Peppers' The Getaway, predicted to sell 100-105k copies with streaming and 90-95k in pure sales.

Gucci Mane Performs For The First Time Since His Release

Gucci Mane an Keyshia Ka'ior Gucci's appearance at Elan Mansion in Atlanta Friday night was quite the celebration. After being released from prison after 3 years last month, Gucci Mane seems to be bigger than ever, and that much was clear at his Elan Mansion performance in Atlanta Saturday night. The Trap God came through the club with a selection of hits both old and new including the likes of "Wasted," "Pillz," and his Mike WiLL-assisted comeback track, "First Day Out Tha Feds". As always, his girlfriend, Keyshia Ka'oir documented the whole experience in SnapChat, and judging by her footage, the night was pretty crazy. The sold out event brought out fans and collaborators of Guwop's (including Peewee Longway, who you'll see in the clip), who all made sure to enthusiastically rap along with the rapper as he cycled through some live favorites. Check out the clips from Wop's Snap below.

ScHoolboy Q Previews New Music From "Blank Face LP"

schoolboy Q The trailer for the album features a clip of a new song. ScHoolboy Q was up to his usual troll-ish ways last week, unveiling a decoy album cover for his upcoming Blank Face LP, before switching it out fro the official artwork. Now that the jokes are out of the way, Q has shared a trailer for the album, and it features some brand new music that will appear on the project. The short clip features some artful shots of a character cruising around the California streets, as he smokes with some friends, orders drive through, and documents what looks to be an instance of police brutality. All the while, we hear Groovy Q's voice, kicking some rhymes over an instrumental that keeps his gritty West Coast sound in tact. Top Dawg, who shared the video on his Twitter account, described it as one of his favorite songs from ScHoolboy's follow-up to Oxymoron. Watch the trailer below. The album is out July 8th.

Lil Wayne's Seizures Reportedly Due To Epilepsy & Not Lean

Lil Wayne Lil Wayne's recent seizures were reportedly a result of him not taking his epilepsy medicine. It had been previously supposed that they had been caused by his heavy lean intake. The rap world was in for a major scare earlier this week, as it was reported that Lil Wayne suffered two seizures on board his private jet, forcing his pilot to make two separate emergency landings. Luckily, Wayne's folks soon confirmed that he was in stable condition, but a worrisome report claimed that the Young Money boss had been downing copious amounts of lean on the night before his seizures. All in all, though, the situation didn't seem to dire, as Weezy performed a show two nights ago (June 15), just a day after getting released from the hospital. While he should probably still control his codeine intake, one of his reps has now told TMZ that Wayne's seizures were a result of him not taking the medicine he's prescribed for his epilepsy. Wayne apparently forgot his meds while on the road, and he couldn't get his hands on an Rx in Milwaukee, where he was set to perform. He thought he could make it through the trip regardless, but clearly, he was mistaken. Fortunately, he had a pilot who's trained in the art of an emergency descent. Wayne has suffered with epilepsy for years, and it's unclear if his latest seizures were more threatening than those he's had in the past. Regardless, he's hopefully learned to keep his meds on him at all times, especially when he's on an airplane.

Post Malone Responds To XXL Claiming He's Not Focused On Hip-Hop

Post Malone Post Malone says he was too "tired" to make this year's XXL Freshman cover shoot. He also addresses claims that he wants to move away from hip-hop. UPDATE: Vanessa Satton has responded to Post Malone's letter with an Instagram letter of her own. She reaffirmed that Post's team as well as others had told XXL that he wasn't interested in being boxed-in as a hip-hop artist. She also stated that Post never declined the Freshman cover -- "because we didn't even get that far." Read her note below.

Original text below: Many hip-hop fans were surprised to see the absence of Post Malone on this year's XXL Freshman cover, which was unveiled earlier this week. After the cover dropped, XXL's editor-in-chief, Vanessa Satton, stopped by The Breakfast Club to explain all of the Freshman picks as well as why certain artists weren't selected. With regard to Post Malone, Satton said that XXL was told by his camp that he "wasn't paying attention to hip-hop so much" and that he's apparently "going in more of a rock/pop/country direction." Post has now responded to being left off the 2016 Freshman cover with a letter addressed to "Vanessa, XXL, Internet, etc." that he posted to his Instagram. In the letter, he seems to take offense to Satton's claims that he's abandoning hip-hop and that he should be ineligible for the Freshman accolade simply because he might pull from different genres. "My love of music should never be questioned," he begins the letter. "I shouldn't be chastised in whichever way I see fit." He then went on to explain that his latest mixtape as well as his upcoming album are both hip-hop above anything else. "I have a hip-hop album coming out in August," he wrote. "I made a HIP HOP mixtape promoting my HIP HOP album." Toward the end of his, letter, Post implied that he was invited to be a part of the Freshman cover, but he declined because he "was tired and didn't want to take the 6 hour flight to New York."

Chris Brown Avoids DUI Charges In Amsterdam

Chris Brown Chris Brown was pulled over while extremely high in Amsterdam. It appears Chris Brown just dodged a massive bullet the other day across the pond. According to TMZ, Chris was high as a kite when he was stopped by police in Amsterdam for riding a dirt bike without license plates, and somehow he was able to talk his way out of some super serious charges. Taking advantage of the legal weed, Chris & his homies stopped at a local “coffee shop” to partake in some leisure activites, before hopping on their dirt bikes and getting pulled over. Apparently, Chris’ posse tried to use Brown's fame as leverage against any potential charges, but the police had no idea who he was. Having received a ticket & then taken down to the station to pay his fine (see IG clip below), Brown was able to use his charm to avoid any further charges, like a DUI for instance. Check out the footage that TMZ captured from the day below.

Drake's "VIEWS" Reaches 1 Billion Streams

Drake at Raptors Game Released at the end of April, Drake's "VIEWS" has now been streamed over a billion times. Streaming numbers can be confusing, and they seem less convincing than traditional album sales. However, a billion streams ain't nothing to scoff at. If one's project reaches the billy mark, he or she is in rare company. The latest album to attain 1 billion streams is Drake's VIEWS, which is currently spending its fourth consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. A couple of days ago, it was reported that Drake is, so far, the most streamed artist of 2016. It's now clear that VIEWS basically helped him reach the top of that list by itself. According to Billboard, VIEWS has achieved 1.07 billion streams in the US alone. The recent total streams report, released by HDD, anointed Drake with 1.44 billion total streams thus far into 2016. Therefore, about three-quarters of his total streams this year have come from VIEWS. VIEWS isn't the only Drake album to get to the billion mark. Last year's If You're Reading This It's Too Late did as well, though its 1.06 billion streams have already been surpassed by the numbers of VIEWS. With 1.31 billion and 1.38 billion streams respectively, The Weeknd's Beauty Behind the Madness, released this past August, and Justin Bieber's November album Purpose have both recorded more streams than VIEWS,. Considering that VIEWS has been out for little over a month, though, expect Drake to surpass his Canadian competitors in no time. This past week alone, VIEWS was streamed over 160 million times. *An album's streaming numbers are a tally of each of its individual song streams; 1 stream=1 song stream and not the entire album

Bobby Brown Claims Whitney Houston Had Affair With Tupac

Whitney Hoston Bobby Brown's new memoir, "Every Little Step," divulges information about his past with Whitney Houston. Bobby Brown is gearing up to drop a memoir, titled "Every Little Step," in a few days, however Associated Press was sent a copy early to review and revealed some of the juicy details that Brown divulges within it. The book acts a tell-all concerning the tumultuous relationship between Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston, as well as their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, who tragically died three years after Whitney Houston, in a strikingly similar situation. In the book, as AP reveals, Brown wages a few claims against Houston, while also revealing some of his own mistakes-- he claims to have had affairs with both Janet Jackson and Madonna. When it comes to Houston, he alleges that the late singer had multiple affairs herself, with "quite a few of the producers and artists," naming Tupac Shakur specifically, among them. The memoir is due out on June 13.
